More mainland martial magic straight from the Shaolin Temple with the bolshy baldheads conspiring with rebels to bring a violent, out of control warlord to justice.

This comes in the form of many spectacular displays of Wu Shu wizardry, led as ever by multi-talanted martial artist Jet Li under the direction of Shaw Brothers maestro Liu Chia Liang.  There's mesmerising mantis and captivating calligraphy kung fu as well as the superior style of slice and dice: shark fin swordplay.

An ambitious picture made visually fantastic through employing hundreds of extras in vividly coloured costumes and good use of the luscious landscape.  In every sense of the word a classic, this is essential viewing for appreciators of genuine martial arts talent.
