Sex and Zen is based on a novel from the Ming Dynasty The Carnal Prayer Mat, a story of such overt, and frankly comic, sexual content that it upset the Confucian scholars of the day! And while Sex and Zen's content is mainly concerned with carnal adventure, its all done in such an absurd fashion that it can be described as nothing less than loads of fun.

The San Francisco Chronicle even suggested Sex and Zen have its own merchandising line after its outstandingly successful cinema season; figs, oysters and strawberries for the candy bar, hot towels and foot massages.... Sex and Zen is a comic tale of fun and sensuality, ribald but ridiculous, sexy but very silly, and utterly un-missable!

My Thoughts Movie Ratings

Well, well, well.  What can one say about his film???  The film itself has a very average storyline.  I mean, c'mon, a man wants to satisfy lots of women, and the only way that he can do this is to make his penis bigger than anyone else's.  Now obviously, the only way to do this, is to have a penis transplant with a horse!  Sounds like it could happen!  Overall a very average film made watch able purely for the, um, new way to use a flute!
