Kit, a young Jazz composer fails to cooperate in the commercially oriented music industry in Hong Kong, and during a period of depression; meets Min, a girl who sings pop songs in a small Cantonese opera. 

Her childlike innocence and passion towards the music of the troupe members greatly encourages him at a time when he is extremely down on his luck.

Eventually, the two fall in love, but not without several complications.

Min, at one time the strong one, now must look to Kit for the support that she once provided. Whether it be the light-hearted moments, or the tragic, this film delivers on all counts.

C'est La Vie, Mon Cheri grabbed eleven nominations at the 13th Hong Kong Film Awards and won 6 of them, including Best Actress (Anita Yuen Wing-Yee), Best Supporting Actress (Petrina Fung Bo-Bo), Best Supporting Actor (Paul Chun Pui), Best Screenplay (Yi Dung Sing), Best Director (Yi Derek Yee Tung-Sing) and Best Picture.
