Shot on location in Tibet, the film is the story of Robinson
the crippled lawyer and his encounter with Wong La , a young monk.
Robinson is on his way to the Potala palace in Tibet. Through his
client Mr Bao he is in possession of the Babu Gold Bottle, a
powerful magic bauble used by the Tibetan monks used to expel the
evil Black Section when they tried to conquer the country years
before. Bao is near death, and has entrusted Robinson with the task
of reuniting the missing part of the bottle, so its magic will work
again. Robinson must also inform the Dalai Lama of Bao's plans.
While Hong Kong cinema often trades in action at the expense of plot
, A Kid From Tibet has an abundance of both. After Bao is
murdered, and Wong La arrested in an innocent mix up at Hong Kong
airport, the scene is set for a gradually building climax. With the
re entry of the evil Black Section, things begin to positively
spark.
Wong La must use Tibetan magic to avenge Bao's death, get of jail
and keep the Black Section out of the Holy Land of Tibet. Quite a
tall order, one that he attempts using Tibetan magic, pyrotechnic
displays of power and simply incredible stunt work.
While it has generous dose of action, Kid From Tibet is a
change of pace from the high octane ammunition flicks of the Hong
Kong genre.
