The Movie

From Ringo Lam, the director of the legendary Tarantino inspiring "City on Fire" and the spellbinding horror "Burning Paradise", comes one of the best HK actioners of the 90s.

Opening in 1975 at the time of the Cambodian takeover, a young boy sees his parents killed by a CIA double agent. After being rescued from the war torn country, his Uncle Shang trains him on the 'path to vengeance' as he grows up in San Francisco, hellbent on avenging the death of his parents.

20 years later, he finds Chun Pui the man responsible for his parents' murder, who now looms over the San Francisco underworld crime scene as its undisputed kingpin.

When Andy falls in love with Chun Pui's daughter (Rosamund Kwan from The Bride with White Hair), he is faced with ultimate choice; does he avenge the past or break with it to make a new future?

Movie Ratings

A typical revenge movie, with Andy Lau playing the role of the only surviving person in his family after they were slaughtered 20 years earlier by a ruthless CIA double agent. What follows is a triangle romance between Andy lau, Rosamund Kwan (who is the girlfriend of the killer - Chun Pui) and the daughter of Chun Pui. Some very good action scenes that are ruined by the romantic sub-plot.
