| The Result is HERE, KCR has won the bidding for the Shatin - Central Link (East Kowloon Line). It seems that the Hong Kong government is looking forward into incorperating the MTR proposal into the KCR proposal. The Kwun Tong Line Extension will most likely not be completed because MTR said that they will construct that extension only if they had gotten the bid for this Line, but the government might force MTR to construct this extension or find a way to incorperate this station into the Shatin - Central Link. This is the most updated plan of the stations of this line: Tai Wai > Hin Keng (Planning) > Tze Wan Shan > Diamond Hill > Kai Tak >To Kwa Wan > Ma Tau Wai > Ho Man Tin > Hung Hom (connection underground light rail to Whampoa)> Exhibition > Admiralty > Queens Road Central (Planning) > Central West. This line must start construction by early 2004 in order to complete this line by the year 2008. According to the news, it is said that the Tai Wai > Diamond Hill section will open in Spring 2008, while the Diamond Hill > Central West section will complete in Winter 2008. On June 25, 2002, the Hong kong Government also said that they are currently starting an investigation on if it is possible to combine the companies KCR and MTR into one company. Below is a layout of the previous KCR and MTR plans for the Shatin to Central Link. |
