Assignment 5, Part 2
Summary of the discussion with my partner, Kyung ah Oh
First, my partner and I looked at the two sites that we liked, The Official site of Eminem and Customized Tour.
In our comparison we noticed these features of good web design in both sites.
- Well-organaized
Links are fixed in the same location within all the pages, so viewers can move to the categories they need easily.
- Having clear purposes
We can figure out the purpose of the web site at first sight. The pictures on the main page let us know what the main topic is.
- Colors combind well.
Both sites have proper color for the purpose of each site. For example, the 'blue color'(of Customized Tour) feels cool and viewers would feel like traveling. And the 'black' color (of the Eminem site) shows a gloomy mood of Eminem's black music, rap.
Second, follow a similar procedure with regard to the bad sites.
Then we looked at the two sites that we did not like, The Hair Style and The Seattle Tours.
In our comparison we noticed these problems.
- 'The Seattle Tours' has unnecessary links.
When we click the links on upper menu bar, we can find that the first three links have the same contents. This makes viewers feel bored and insincere.
- 'The Hair Style' doesn't have a clear pupose
There is no clear prpose but also no standard of organization. The organization of the site 'The Hair Style' distracts viewers from focusing on the main purpose.
- Both sites have a color problem.
The colors they used for the sites 'The Hair Style' looks never stylish and the colors of 'The Seattle Tours' do not inspire viewers feel like traveling.
- There is not enough information.
In 'The Seattle Tours', serveral important information like fee, time, and exact date is missing. In addition, even though some of those informaition is there, it is hard to find.
Finally, we concluded some standards for a good web design.
- It should be well organized because a web site is for the visualization.
- Also, links are easy to move.
- Color combination is important.
