| Do you know what to do? | |||||||||||||||||||
| Friday - October 12, 2001 As we look at each word in this verse notice the 'His'; it points to whose commandments they are. It's not mankinds or some institutions commands but God's. What I know is that: 1. We can trust God that they will be for our good. 2. It will be for the good of others. What are these 'commandments'? I think it would be ALL of God's words. Not selective verses we agree with but ALL. Do we love the Lord as we love ourselves and do we love our neighbors the same way? Do we know what the 10 commandments are? Read Exodus 20:1-17. |

| Have we forgotten Sept. 11, 2001? | |||||||||||||||||||
| We drift toward compromise and call it tolerance. We drift toward disobedience and call it freedom. We cherish the indiscipline of lost self-control and call it relaxation. We slouch toward prayerlessness and delude ourslves into thinking we have escaped legalism. We Slide toward godlessness and convice ourselves we have been liberated. |

| Thursday - October 11, 2001 So we must ask what does this 'walk according' mean? KJV uses the phrase, 'walk after'. The NIV uses 'walk in obedience'. From these different angles we are starting to see a picture. A picture that says we should align our steps or lives with God's commandments. We should not walk after our own desires but after God's desires? What are His desires ? His Commandments? Oh, another thing, it says that 'we' should walk/live. Who are the 'we'? It's all 'who know the truth' (v.1) I guess that means at least me and you; doesn't it? No excuses, we know it's us and and we no his commandments, so I guess there are no excuse for not doing what is right? Darn! I was hoping I could sneek by this... :) |

| Wednesday - October 10, 2001 Just before this verse John, the author of this letter, was reminding the readers to love one another (v.5). And I guess for some reason, John thought it was necessary to explain what love is. Notice it is not an emotional response. We are not to just "luv" someone but we are to follow God's commands. Also notice the word 'walk'. In the Amplified bible it says to 'live and walk'. Its as if we should be doing this everyday, as a common event. It should be our lifestyle not a Sunday Morning event. Do we really love people daily? Do we just love "mankind" and not people? Let's walk in His Love that others may see. |
