The trails at Mt. Sugarloaf are scattered over an area no smaller than 100 square kilometres. You can ride all day and not tread the same path twice.
There trails twist and turn over the mountain range, from the Newcastle side to the Cessnock side.
There are many areas where jumps and smaller circuits have been crafted into the forest over the years.
The "Clay Pit" is a dis-used quarry situated on the Kurri-Kurri side of the Mountain Range along John-Renshaw Road and has a number of jumps, its also a common place used by local four wheel drive clubs.
Further down the road is another track known as "Crazys". its a track that has been ridden into the grass paddocks. The track is extremely sandy and offers some smaller jumps.
Hidden in the bushland on the Newcastle side of the mountain is a small motorcross type circuit that surrounds a bush shack owned by George, a few jumps and tight turns, quite fun though.
Situated between West Wallsend and Killingsworth on the GolfCourse Road is the dis-used Killingsworth rifle range, once again there are some smaller jumps and trails leading off into the bushland.
