"Choosing A Path"
I greet each of you in this letter in such a manner, because you ARE loved of God. If you are serving Him with all that is within you, He loves you! If you are a sinner (that covers you backsliders and lukewarm as well), He loves you! Those of you who are in that condition, He loves you but His heart is grieved. If you don�t come to Him in true repentance (convicted and turning from sin), He will love you even when you are cast into an eternal hell. It doesn�t matter if you believed some false preacher, because you had a choice to seek God and a promise that you would find Him! We all have a choice to take the path that leads to God (eternal life), or the path to destruction (misery now and hell for all eternity). There are consequences for the choices we make, now and later. Many may not like me by the time this message is done, but I�m not called to sing you to sleep! I�m not called to praise and pat backs when sin is there. I�m called to open eyes and help you get on the path of LIFE! The title of this month�s message is �Choosing A Path.�
Our first scripture today is found in Matthew 7:13-14, �Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way <path> that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.� I feel we need to go ahead and apply verse 15 here also, �Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep�s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.� All of that is pretty self-explanatory, but by the leading of the Holy Spirit I feel we need to hit on them a bit more. I hope you�ll open your heart by asking for the Holy Spirit to speak to you as we continue. Your choices have a price! Not just for you but for those around you � your spouse, your children � for years to come. That�s why we must give much thought to �choosing a path.�
I want to speak with you first about the wrong path � that broad way that is easy to travel and will take you and your family to hell. This wide path doesn�t contain a lot of obstacles as the devil won�t put anything in your way � he wants your trip to hell to be easy. You see, you won�t have any troubles and tribulations on it. Why? When you aren�t butting up against the opposition (satan) on a path, then you�re on his path and he�s walking along beside you! He knows that as you get farther and farther down this path, you are putting distance between you and God! God�s voice gets harder to hear, calling out, �You�re headed for destruction � come back home � I love you and miss you � My arms are open to take you back!� God�s calling to some of you right now! Some underestimate the cunning of the devil, but you better believe he knows all about you. That devil knows your personality; he knows if you wear your feelings on your sleeve. All stuck out there and every little thing hurts you� �Oh, Brother So-and-So hurt my feelings with that message�� �That old preacher must have seen me � he preached right at me�� �Well, I didn�t get to sing � they don�t love me�� Satan knows everything about you and just exactly what it takes to get you on that path to destruction! Some like a lot of praise and attention, and the man of God while in the Spirit may not give it to you. That wicked one from hell will pat your back with one of his lying, seducing preachers! Oh, you can hear, �Sin is alright and the grass is greener over at this church and you�ll be appreciated�� I can almost see the devil now, laughing and jumping up and down, picking up his walkie-talkie and calling ahead, �Clear everything off the path! We�ve got a father and he�s leading his whole family right straight to destruction � hell!� It ain�t no joke people, and I don�t smile as I preach this! Detours from God�s path are set before you DAILY, and it�s within you to choose to overcome, staying on God�s path, or to get off of it onto satan�s! It�s up to you to choose to be a servant of God or a slave to sin! That road to hell has a lot of buddies and pals, because people going to hell don�t want to go alone. I�m responsible to warn you that backsliding or being lukewarm, all wickedness is disobedience to God and has a price, a punishment. Some may receive it now, but torment for eternity is guaranteed! When you choose the road to destruction, taking all of God�s promises and His hand of protection away from you spouse and children, and you look at that precious child lying in a casket, then you can know you led them there! Possibly even know that you sent them out away from God, to an eternity in hell. Your choice has a PRICE! Preacher�s choices have a price and it�s a high one! I challenge you to read chapters 2, 3 and 4 in Jeremiah, and see what the price is to reject the truth of God from a true man of God, and run off down the wrong path with a deceiving lying prophet! I beg you to read it! I beg you to real Ezekiel! There�s a price for sin and it�s great. My God, I wish you all could look into my heart and see that it is grieved for people in this situation. Grieved no different from Jeremiah�s when he saw what was going to happen after the people were warned and God pleaded with them, but they wouldn�t come back. I too well know the price for the wrong path. Saved at 14, called by God at 16, backslid and on the path to destruction by 20. God called and called me to come home. I looked at my 17-month-old daughter lying in a casket. I broke many hearts of people who loved me. Every time I rejected God I sunk worse and worse. Farther and farther away from God. Many troubles with the law � had material things but my bucket was full of holes and I was miserable. Now after facing death many times, after facing the death penalty and watching my teenage daughter suffer because of my choices, only now am I where God wants me to be. God was merciful to me � He called for me many times. He spared me, His Grace saved me and gave me a wonderful wife, son, daughter and church. He could have let me die at any time on that path to destruction, but He gave me one last chance. I had no promise of that chance or that He would protect me from my own destruction. Friend, if you are on the path of destruction you have no promise for tomorrow. You have no promise for the protection of your family. You don�t have any promise that if you reject God again, He�ll ever call you again. Oh but you do have a choice right now � �Choose you this day who you will serve!� Friend, an abundant eternal life, or destruction and eternity in hell, await you in �Choosing A Path.�
I�ve told you about the wrong path, but how wonderful it is to tell you about the right path! The narrow path with a strait gate and few people on it. That�s right, it can get lonely because it has obstacles of trials and tribulations. It�s not easy at times but the reward is great! On this path, people may not understand you. They may think you�re a crazy fanatic. They may desert you. Oh but Jesus understands you! He loves you. He is there for you and you are NEVER alone. You have God�s promise of eternal life on this path. You have God�s promise that if you raise your children on this path (teach them), then they will stay on it or return to it! You have the promise of an abundant life. I�m talking about when your feet hit the floor each morning you have peace. Joy unspeakable! Even in the valley you can have it. God will allow you to enter the valley, but He will be there to still the waters, to make the grass green, to remove all fear. He will comfort you and prepare a place before you in the presence of your enemies. Praise Jesus, your cup will run over! You have the promise that when that child is sick, He has paid the price for them and in His name they can be healed. You have the promise that when enemies come in against you, He will destroy them and they�ll flee seven ways. (Deuteronomy 28:7) In John 14:27, you have this promise, �Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.� You have that promise not to ever be alone and to have peace with God and the peace of God! I get excited talking about all of God�s promises for His children on the strait path. I can be a witness to them. He has poured them all out on Kim, Justin and Cassie, all covered under His covenant with me! I had a choice and I finally made the right one. I chose to follow Jesus! All any of us need is Jesus. Please choose Him today and bring your loved ones under His hand of protection. When you do, you secure their place for eternity! Oh friend, my prayers are with you in these last days, and what might be your last chance in �Choosing A Path�.
In closing, let me say I�ve preached hard because I love you. Many I�ve never met, but the Jesus in me loves you. I care about you and your families. I�m not preaching to win a popularity contest, for a retirement plan, for a parsonage, or for a crowd that will give, give and give. I depend on Jesus and not promises for money or other things. I ask you to read Ezekiel 22:25-28. The church leaders there were living in sin and pampering sin. Destruction was at hand but they didn�t care. In verses 30-31, God was looking for one to stand with the truth, but they kept silent. In Galatians 1:8, Paul warns about those preaching any other Gospel. The Gospel being there�s just one way to God, and that is through Jesus. You can�t get there through Mary, Peter, Paul, a Pope, Mohammed, Buddha, or asking a man to forgive your sins. All that is anti-Christ and has been around lying and deceiving for over two thousand years! One Way, Jesus! If I or any other preacher tell you another way or discourage you from seeking God or worshipping Him for yourself, then shake the dust off and let the Holy Spirit lead you to a true man of God. I love you and refer you to Isaiah 55:6-7, �Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake His way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.� CHOOSE A PATH!
