Without The Light"
I come to you today in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Saviour and soon coming King. It is our prayer that this finds you in God�s will. We know that His will for us is the exact blessing, circum-stances and yes, chastisement that it will take to preserve us. In this day we need God�s preservation as the darkness grows stronger. We need The Light and IT to shine brighter than ever before. If your light grows dim or goes completely out you may perish in the darkness. Keeping your light bright so that it will be seen and will guide you, is a daily process. Only YOU can maintain it! You must have the light for yourself. The title of this message is, �Darkness Will Swallow Us Without The Light.�
Just in case someone is reading this that doesn�t know about the light, I�m going to teach just a bit. In John 1:1-5 the Word of God says, �In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.� That Word, it was in the beginning with God and it was God. Having all power of God. If you look at verse 14 there, it says, �And the Word was made flesh.� You see, the Word was Life and the Light. The Word made flesh was Jesus, Life and Light to a dying world headed for hell. The Light stepped down out of Heaven to bring salvation by His grace to a world full of dead flesh walking around in darkness. Jesus that Light came to light the way for men and women to see the path of reconciliation with the Father. The only way being through Jesus by repenting and turning from sin, becoming full of Light. That Light that shines bright in the darkness, and some will desire it. You can help them get the Light but they have to keep it burning themselves. Jesus said in John 14:6, �I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.� By who? Jesus the Word! Jesus the Life! Jesus the Light! Jesus the only Way! No other name under Heaven by which a man can be saved! Okay, if Jesus is the Word and the Life and the Light, then what do you find when you read the Word in your Bible? You find LIFE and LIGHT! Can somebody praise the Name of Jesus? If I were in the pulpit or street corner somewhere right now I�d be having a Holy Ghost fit! I get excited about that Light, Jesus. I can�t take a step without Him � the darkness is too thick in this world, and full of snares. I have to maintain that Light daily by reading the Word and spending time with the Lord. Oh I pray you can hear what the Spirit has to say � �Darkness Will Swallow Us Without The Light.�
This year alone I have seen or heard about three powerful men of God, all carriers of the Light, go home to be with God. These men were faithful to do God�s will and many people came to hear them wherever they were. People were attracted to the Light. Those men could bring the Word through the anointing of the Holy Spirit and lead people to the Light. None of them or any other man of God could be the light for anyone other than themselves. David spoke in Psalm 119:105, �Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.� He knew that it took a personal relationship with God daily to be able to have his path lit. I�m sure most all of you have stumbled around in a dark room. You knew you needed to find the light so you could see where you were walking. Just like that we have to have the Light in a world full of evil darkness! �Darkness Will Swallow Us Without The Light.�
I remember an incident in 1979 when I had to drive quite a bit between Manchester and Russell Springs. The road was dangerous and full of curves, hills, and seemed extremely dark at night. One night my headlights started going off when my alternator failed. I had just come out of London and entered the hills and curves. If I tried to run the lights the car would try to die. You see, the headlights had to have that energy (power) source to shine onto the dark highway ahead. I finally fell in behind another car.
I followed and used the other vehicles� lights for a while. I just wanted to make it to the Cumberland Parkway in Somerset � I knew it had more lights that I could drive by, and be out of danger. But then the other vehicle turned off. I couldn�t see my path by his lights anymore. I needed my own and was in darkness all the way into Somerset. We all have to have our own Light, that Light being Jesus, the power source is the Holy Spirit. We must be filled with the Holy Spirit. That is done by spending time in the Word and in prayer. Friends, in my spiritual life I can�t travel through a world of darkness on my Mom�s light, my Pastor�s light, the Evangelist�s light or even my Wife�s light. They might have to follow the leading of the Spirit down another path. Their light is for their own feet on their own path. I/You must have our own light. If you don�t seek that Light daily and feed your power source (the Holy Spirit), then you or I will be swallowed by the darkness and perish! �Darkness Will Swallow Us Without The Light.�
All of us have to pass through some valleys on our path. We have to cross them to get up on the mountain. Death lurks in the darkness of the valley. Often you�ll run into fog (troubles and cares of the world) and your light is needed to cut through it all. You can turn to I Samuel 17:3 and find a good example of what satan does. Like the Philistines he�ll stand over on one mountain watching you on the other. You have to cross that valley to reach the other side, and he plans every snare for you. You must have the Light to see them! You must have Jesus the Light to lead you through. The tricks of the devil are many, and if you take my word for what is in God�s Word, then you�re trying to travel on my light. You could say you are trying to go to battle in mine or someone else�s armor. Everyone obtains spiritual armor to fit them, made to fit so to say. In
I Samuel 17:38-39 we can see where Saul wanted David to wear his armor to fight Goliath. David had a personal relationship with God. In reading the chapter we see God had continually delivered and never failed him. David refused Saul�s armor because he had not proved it. He had never tried the armor to see if it would protect him. If he had worn Saul�s armor to fight Goliath, it wouldn�t have fit and he would have trusted another man�s armor over God. I have no doubt he would have been killed. If we try to go into the valley, into spiritual battle with any light or armor but what we accepted from God ourselves, we will die in the valley. �Darkness Will Swallow Us Without The Light.�
In closing, let me explain why it is so important to have your own light within you, to have armor made just for you. If you go on your path taking my word or anyone else�s, you could be deceived. Jesus Himself warned in Matthew 7:15, �Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep�s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.� Paul told the church in Acts 20:29-30, �For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.� We are warned of these false prophets and of shepherds that scatter the flock, all through the Word. It was happening in Jesus� time, in Elijah�s time, and it is happening now. I warn you right now today that it is going to get worse before it gets better. The Word says they will deceive the very elect if possible! You must get your own Light by getting in the Word and spending time talking to God. Don�t let anything steal from that time, or hinder it. Beware of any man that reads or quotes the Word and doesn�t encourage you to read it yourself. In Acts 17:11-12, Paul was preaching to the people there, saying, ��in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed.� You must obtain God-knowledge for yourself, giving power to your light. I have a wonderful Pastor, a man of God, and I�m fortunate to know many true men of God. When they minister, my spirit bears witness with theirs. That same Word, same Light, is within us. I expect them to check me by the Word, and they are not offended when I do the same. To each of you - �study to show thyself approved� � by doing so you give power to your Light. I pray you�ll take heed to this message with spiritual understanding, and above all that your Light will shine bright in the darkness and make your path clear. Not only that, but that others will desire a Light like yours. Don�t be swayed by false teachings. You must must stand firm on the only way to God, through Jesus. Jesus the Light that darkness has to flee from. �Without Jesus the Light, we�ll be swallowed by darkness.�
I love you all and with much desire I want to pray over your requests and concerns. This message came burning in me � my sleep left me and I couldn�t do anything else except put it on paper. Remember this � good morals may keep you out of jail, but only Christ Jesus will keep you out of hell!

HE COULD!
(A Testimony of Grace, 08/06/1997)
I am beset, so heavily beset;
By trials, o trials untold.
From whence do they come - why?
I ask, though that is bold...
Are they of the Lord?
Trials to make me grow?
Are they of His adversary?
Trying to bring me low?
If I succumb to the trials,
As I sometimes wish to do,
My life somehow seems easier,
But I know that isn't true.
In this bad time I resolved
Never to speak with Him,
But very soon I realized
The penalty of sin.
Because then I couldn't thank Him,
For the beauty of the sky -
Since I refused to speak to Him -
No matter the reason why.
And I could not ask the Lord
To bring me safely home.
It was then I truly realized,
Without Him I'm alone.
Life plodded slowly on,
Without the Lord in my heart,
Only with Him is there joy,
So from that I'll not part!
I realized my wrongs,
And prayed to Him for mercy,
Then peace and joy and fellowship -
Mine for eternity!
Yes, Jesus died for me;
And also He died for you �
Accept Him for your very own,
His love will get you through!
Refusing to talk to God, as I did,
Doesn't do you any good.
When no one or nothing can make things right,
Always remember - HE could!
