Series Info

Slayers was originally a fantasy series published in novel format by Hajime Kanzaka with illustrations done by Rui Araizumi. Later, an animé TV series was made, based on the Slayers novels. The second series, Slayers Next, is a continuation of the first series.
There are two series of Slayers novels: Slayers and Slayers Special. In the Slayers novel, manga, and anime series Lina's main companion is Gourry while in the Slayers Special series Lina travels with Naga the Serpent. It was then made into anime series in 1995. It was then followed by Slayers Next and Slayers Try. The first movie was also produce on 1995. and was followed by another one each year. Dragon Magazine periodically publishes new stories by Hajime Kanzaka and manga done by Rui Araizumi. So far there is one manga collection by Rui Araizumi. There is also a Slayers manga series based on the TV series which is done by Shoko Yoshinaka.
In a land filled with mazokus(Evil demon-mages), dragons which can transform into humans, where white and black magic vie for supremacy, there wanders a sorcerer, who goes by the nickname "Dragon Spooker". She is none other than the flashy and peerless, Lina Inverse. Well versed in black magic, she steals from robbers to enrich herself. She scours the land for treasures, trinkets and free meals. She is accompanied by the kurage(jellyfish)-head Gourry, the clumsy, white magic wielding Amelia, the suave chimera Zelgadiss, the shy mage Shilfiel and the secretive mazoku Xelloss.

Background:	The red-haired, "Dragon Spooker", Lina Inverse, whose motto "Villains have no right", occasionlly steals from thieves and robbers if not looking for priceless artifacts and magic. She is an accomplished sorceress, able to wield Black Magic with ease, and she is well versed in using swords as well. She is quite short-tempered, though she is caring and kind. She wears the Four Demon King's talismans(Death Fog on her neck, Chaotic Blue on her left wrist, Dark Star on her right wrist and Shabaranidgo around her waist) which she use to invoke the Lord of Darkness power to augment her own. Her seiyuu is Hayashibara Megumi.

Background:	He is Lina's blonde, brainless companion and is usally forgetfull as well. Lina calls him Kurage(jellyfish)-head, because of this. He wields the legendary Hikari no Ken(Sword of Light), which he uses quite well. The reason probably why Lina allows Gourry to accompany him is to get her hands on Gourry's sword, though Gourry likes to think that he is Lina's bodyguard. His seiyuu is Matsumoto Yasunori.

Background:	He was once a pure human but was changed into a chimera by Rezo, his grandfather. He now wanders around looking for anything that will bring his humanity back. He is quite good with a sword and wields Shamanism magic as well. He is far the most serious person in the group. His seiyuu is Midorikawa Hikaru.

Background:	The naive and justice-crazy kid, Amelia, is Saillune's princess. She is sort of clumsy as well, though she is quite adept at using White magic in combat, but she usually makes a long speech invoking justice, before combat, afterwards when she is ready, she usally falls down head first. Her seiyuu is Suzuki Masami.

Background:	She is a shy and kind girl who knows Gourry from way back in which she also has a crush on. Gourry remembers her through her excellent cooking. Shilefiel is a priestess who can cast Dragu Slave like a pro, though when it comes to flame arrow...its a different story. She wields Defensive White Magic and is the only one in the group powerful enough to cast Resurrection. Her seiyuu is Touma Yumi.

Background:	Filia is a Gold Dragon, who had changed her form to a human to join Lina in preventing a mazoku named Armace from resurrecting, the Dark Lord, Dark Star. Though she is quit shy at times she is more hot-tempered that Lina when she is annoyed. She hates Xellos a lot, because he killed a lot of her friends during the war between Gold Dragons and the mazoku. Her seiyuu is Kuwashima Houko.

Background:	She is the former princess of Zoana, who joined Lina to take revenge on her, since it was Lina who used Dragu Slave on Zoana and destroyed it. She also seems to fall in love with every guys she meets. Her seiyuu is Hiiragi Mifuyu.

Background:	He is a mazoku and the only priest of Beastmaster, Xelas Metallium (one of the Dark Lords of Shabaranigdo). He is one of the most powerful being in the Slayers universe. He is usually secretive and pops up unexpectedly at times. About 1,000 years ago, he wiped out most of the Golden Dragons in the great war between the mazokus and dragons, that is why Filia hates him very much, which he seems to enjoy a lot. His seiyuu is Ishida Akira.
