 The
evil Moo and his troops have conquered the Monster World
and it's all up to video game champ Genki and his friends
Holly and Suezo to put a stop to his dark reign. Along
the way they meet the cute Mocchi, the stone skinned
Golem, the lightning-fast former robber Tiger and the sly
Hare, who all went with Genki in his quest to find the
legendary Phoenix and rid Monster World of Moo once and
for all. (Directed by Hiroyuki Yano). Featuring very
distinct monster designs and an deep story (despite the
bad guys being called the "baddies"), Monster
Rancher is what you can call the "Pokemon For Grown
Ups"...don't expect a lot of cute, fluffy things,
but expect monsters with personalities and more
vocabulary than their names. Adapted from the popular PSX
game with the same title. Eleven year-old Genki has found success, he won
the "Monster Rancher" competition! His prize is
the "Monster Rancher 200x" CD-ROM. As he plays
the game, he is sucked into the game itself, and finds
himself in the middle of the action. In the unique
environment he meets Holly and an eyeball-shaped monster
named Suezo. Together they escape the clutches of the
evil monsters. From Holly, Genki finds out where he is,
and what he can do to vanquish the evil monsters.He learns that the evil monsters are, in fact, good monsters turned evil by the devilish Moo. Only the legendary Phoenix that lives in a special disc can bring back the good nature of the monsters. Joining them in their quest for the mythical Phoenix is Moochi, the monster they find in Genki's disc. |
