and Studio GAINAX's highly acclaimed animé series Neon
Genesis Evangelion was shown in Philippine free TV by ABS-CBN
ch.2 in an albeit frustratingly censored, locally dubbed
edition. This animé has been receiving rave accolades
across the web due to its powerfully unique plot. This
animé does not deal with powerful 'mechs and saving the
world but deals with human drama and passion . It
specifically dealt with the young Shinji Ikari's dilemma
and the story revolves around this principal character's
quest to find his self-worth amidst the chaotic
environment that was post-Second Impact Tokyo-3. The TV
series boast of impressive animation and the musical
score by Shiro Sagisu is among
the best animé musical scores. The story didn't
end with the 26 TV series. It was followed up with the 99
minute EVANGELION: Death & Rebirth shown in Japan on
March 15, 1997. The series was wrapped up with the 87
minute The End of EVANGELION about four months thereafter
which took Japan by storm. The series spawned lots of
merchandise and no doubt that Evangelion will be among
the greatest animés of all time and has set standards to
be emulated by future animés.
  God's in his Heaven, Alls Right
With The World. Its story starts in the year 2015A.D. and
focuses on the prevention of the Third impact by Angels
by the mysterious organization NERV ( formerly GEHIRN)
which operates the bio-mechanical humanoids called "Evangelion"
. These 'mechs can only be piloted by an elite group of
children born exactly 9 months after the Second Impact
which happened sometime in the year 2000A.D.
The Evangelions combat the Angels,
whose sole purpose is to come in contact with the first
angel "Adam" and cause the Third Impact, which
will wipe out all of the remaining survivors of the
Second Impact. The UN's conventional forces and weapons (including
the devastating N2 mine) are totally useless against
these angels because of their AT (Absolute Terror) Fields.
Only the EVAs which can generate their own AT Field to
counter the Angel's AT Field can face them in combat.
Enter our reluctant hero, Ikari
Shinji, whose father Gendo, heads NERV. He was chosen to
pilot the unstable Unit-01, but he declined since he
doesnt trust his father, but after seeing an injured
Ayanami Rei, Unit-00's pilot about to fight again, he
agreed to go to combat even without prior training. Later
they were joined by Langley-Sohryu Asuka, Unit-02's pilot
and continued to defeat Angels after Angels. In one
episode an Angel made Asuka mentally incapacitated to
pilot EVA and a replacement pilot was presented by NERV's
mother organization SEELE. Also, Suzahara Toji, Shinji's
classmate was tasked to pilot Unit-04's disastrous first
and last mission in which the angel "Bardiel"
assumed Unit-04 form. The unstable Unit-01 also gained
"awareness" after it battled the angel "Zeruel"
and ate its S2 engine. In the end, a betrayed Shinji
battles his friend, replacement pilot Nagisa Kaworu, also
known as the 17th angel "Tabris" inside the
Central Dogma. In the midst of all these are the
different agendas of Ikari Gendoh, Akagi Ritsuko, Ryoji
Kaji, Katsuragi Misato and SEELE, which will push
mankind's existence to the limit--though in the end,
everything rests in the hands of 14 year old Ikari Shinji.

have been sketchy, this mysterious girl has been

stages. She is a quiet and unemotional kid, who

Ikari. She is also a consummate pilot, and never
hesitates to carry out orders or risk her life.
She does not eat meat and her reason to be a
pilot is "to bond with people". She
lives alone in a dilapidated apartment and goes
to Tokyo-3 High School with Shinji and Asuka. She
was revealed later in the series as Ikari Yui's
clone and is also the dummy plug for the EVAs. |

with Kaji Ryoji, whom she seems to like. She is
highly competetive with Shinji since she doesnt
want to be second best and she treats him rudely
most of the time. She doesn't like guys, so she
is always saying, "Guys are stupid and
disgusting!" |

attractive and she lives with Shinji and Asuka as
