Hey! Welcome to my review page! I must admit, the place is without graphics, save the background. That's not my fault, it's JASCs. ^^;
But anyway! I have one review done. Check it out.
STABBING WESTWARD: DARKEST DAYS
"All the chewy goodness of tragic hard rock, with a creamy coating of industrial..."
Recently, I've fallen madly in love with the band Stabbing Westward. Recommended by a few people I trust (one of which apparently doesn't know real techno from classical... =P ), I decided to spend a half hour or so downloading the song "Save Yourself".
Do you believe in love at first listen? I certainly do, now. The mix of mild electronica and heavy, dark rock made me almost...well...let's not go there. I spent 2 more hours downloading 4 more songs (Yes, let's all laugh at the 28.8 modem user....), each of which gave me the same tingly feeling. I knew I had to splurge on a CD.
Thank the good spirits for Sam Goody, Grammi, and days off of school. For a mere $15, I recieved 16 songs on a small compact disc. Not only did it save me a good 6 hours of download time, I could actually take this pretty much anywhere, including in my car, which has a kick-ass stereo. I was happy. In it went to my car CD player, and I was greeted my my now-favorite song, Darkest Days. I was very, very happy.
*BIASED REVIEW FOLLOWS*
This love-child of electronica and rock recieves an 8 out of ten.
High point: A masterful blend of electronica and traditional tragic rock. Storytelling lyrics accompany basic, yet catchy and interesting melodies.
Low Point: TAKE SOME DAMNED PROZAC, PEOPLE!!!! Depressing lyrics make up about 80% of this album. And though fitting with the style, people like me don't need anything else to make them less happy.
CUTE ENDING REMARK:
Stabbing Westward. Melts in your ears, not in your CD player. Hopefully.
