PL/1 was designed by IBM company in 1964. It's original name was the "New Programming Language" but has been replaced to avoid confucion with the National Physics Laboratory(NPL) in London. PL/1 designed to combined the key features of FORTRAN,COBOL and ALGOL. Can be used by both Scientific and Business Applications.
