As of now, we are just going to post new shit on our myspace page here. Last night's show was the best show in months as far as listener participation goes. That's promising. Also Xenu made his dramatic re-debut last night. This site will be left up until geocities decides to take it down.

I attended a Wolf Parade concert last week and was able to snag a setlist from the show. Since we're far too generous for our own good, we will be giving the autographed setlist away on thursday night's show as a prize in some form of contest. So tune in this thursday for your chance to win an autographed setlist from the Wolf Parade show.

I hope everyone that listened last week enjoyed the Gold Soundz remix of Shoop by TLC. Panther was on throat and I was crossfading to the point of actin-a-foul. Afterwards Panther admitted that when he was a kid he was able to sing the whole song including the rapping part. It takes a brave man to admit something like that. I was way cooler than Panther when I was young. I was listening to Martin Lawrence way before he hit it big on 'Blossom'. Brad was busy getting into the underground rap scene when he lived in BC. He was into Montell Jordan way before "This is how we do it" took the nation by storm.
On tonight's show there should be some new songs for us to play, barring unforseen circumstances. On tap is the Island's B-side 'Big Bluff' and some Alden Penna solo shit as well as a few others. Brad will not be appearing on this show again. He's gonna be watching the Gold Eyes play baseball. Oh well, at least he is the L.V.M.O.T.G.S.T. (least valuable member of the gold soundz team)

So, we did the Jim Guthrie interview last night and I think it went pretty well. We've never done an interview before, so any akwardness was probably due to that. Hopefully we will interview some other musicians in the future.
This is the "signed" "glossy" that we gave away to a lucky contest winner. The winning answer we were looking for was Jon Voight and Anaconda. Email me at [email protected] if you want a personalized signed glossy of Panther, Brad and I.

Special thanks to my cousin Darcy who was a guest on last night's show. We had more call-ins last night than we have had in the last month. Rumour has it, that she will be back on again in the future.
Big news in the Gold Soundz World. We will be talking to one Mr. Jim Guthrie on July 13th. We have got everything ready to go. We will also post an MP3 of the interview on here for people to download. If anyone out there can think of any questions you want asked then email them to me at [email protected].

Bunch of new songs as well as a haunting love letter sent to panther nearly a decade ago are planned for tonight's show, among other things. If you didn't listen to the show last week, we mentioned that Panther reading shories will be a weekly feature. He has plenty ready for the upcoming weeks. I have read a few of them and they are all very intriguing. If you have a short story/letter from the past or anything like that you should call us tonight at 571-3903 or email it to us at [email protected].

Panther and I got back from the Sasquatch festival yesterday. We will be talking about our trip on the show tomorrow. Find out about Grant getting food poisoning, Graeme and his durag and a little salted treat called a Grizz Stick. New songs and what not too. Watch this and let them blow your mind. I also updated what I am listening to.
Someone out there should call us, er something... 571-3903

Our #1 Super Fan Dave (FUCK YOU XENU) has gotten his own show on CJ 106. It's called Freedom of Speech and it's on every Monday from 9:00-10:00. He plays a bunch of different spoken word type things. Plus, he uses a sample from Rexella Van Impe, so you know the show is gonna be worth listening to.

We are in the process of submitting lists of songs off our database to be included on the main on-air que. Hopefully this will help make the station have more of a "college" sound. If all goes to plan maybe you won't have to hear Our Lady Peace (college favorites) ten times a day.

Just found this here new Islands video for Ruff Jem. It's pretty bad-ass. Some one should send us a show idea, cause we are getting desperate. The email addr
ess is: [email protected].
I was looking around on the internet and found a lovely little download. It is a recording of The Constantines from April 9, 2005 at Lee's Palace. Not often you run into Constantines live recordings. These are FLAC files, so hopefully you have that plug-in. BTW, I just found out that Constantines will be gracing Winnipeg with their presence. On May 17th The Constantines and Chad VanGaalen are playing the Pyramid Cabaret. Everyone should go, I've seen these guys live a few times and it is always a great rock show.
You have to wait 45 seconds then close the advertising window that pops over the download link.

Now that we have learned how to put phone calls on the air (only took over a year) we have picked up a new cast member for the Gold Soundz show. We have never met this person but he has become a reoccuring character. We aptly called him Xenu after the Scientology nemesis. He has called about 4 or 5 times and we have had a few interesting conversations. Xenu visited my Barbarian Brothers Website (#1 Barbarian Brothers Page) on air. Who knew your favorite Westman radio personality was also such a big player on the internet scene. So, if there is anybody else out there that wants to be a weekly guest on our show call us at 571-3903 between 9:00-11:00 on Thursdays or email us at [email protected].

Well the gameshow happened tonight and we had a commanding winner... PANTHER. The final score was 26 to nothing after Brad wagered all his points on the final question which he had 2 chances to get right. It went pretty well I guess, I think we will do it again in a while with Pantha or Brad being the host. Maybe it would make sense if I challenged Panther and Brad was the host. We'll post it up on here when we're gonna do it. The phone at the studio for on-air is fucked, so we couldn't have anyone on tonight. Hopefully it will be up next week.

I've been reading on the interweb about the Sasquatch Music Festival at the Gorge in Washington State. Apparently Neko Case, The Constantines, Rogue Wave and the Heavenly States have been booked. It says on sub pop's website under tour dates that The Constantines and Rogue Wave are playing. I also read that The Shins have been booked but that might just be a rumor. Now they just gotta book Radiohead and Sufjan and all will be well.

If you were listening to the radio show last night you heard the news that next week will be a game show. Grant will be asking Brad and Panther various pop culture questions. If you would like to phone in and participate in going head to head to head with Brad and Panther you can do so by calling 571-3903. If you are successful in answering the question before Brad and Panther you will win a Gold Soundz prize pack. The prize pack consists of an autographed glossy photo of the Gold Soundz team which will be mailed to you. If you have a question you'd like Grant to ask you can email him at [email protected].

On last nights show Panther made a threat of leaving Gold Soundz to start his own show. He later retracted it, but me and Brad think that he should be fired for saying such a thing. We would get rid of him in a heartbeat, but he has been getting great crowd reaction and we're not sure we want to lose fans. We will leave the poll going for a few weeks, giving updates as to how the fans are voting.
Oh and another thing, he may have accidentally dropped a muddled F-Bomb on the air last night.

There is a new face here at Gold Soundz. His name is Panther. His cunning intellect and exquisite charm have been gracing the airwaves for about a month now and it has helped produce some of our best shows. So if you thought our normal on air antics were dry and uninteresting, the arrival of Panther will hopefully change your mind. Here is a little bit of info about the fellow.
Sign: Aquarius Favorite Sunshine Singer: Skippy Worst Fear: Intergalactic warfare Favorite Meal Number 5 supersized with a Coke Idea of a romantic evening: Watching his Halloween 3 VHS followed by some booze-crusing. Sexual Orientation: MetroSexual Favorite Bible Passage: Leviticus 18:22
The Directors Label has just released 4 new music video director DVDs. This time it is for Anton Corbijn, Jonathon Glazer, Mark Romanek and Stephane Sednaoui. I have seen the original three they released and they are awesome. These new 4 come in a boxset, but it doesn't come until closer to X-mas. Go the website www.directorslabel.com to see what videos are on the DVDs and there is also a trailer for the new 4 discs.

Click here to see an amazing fan video for the Grandaddy song Jed's Other Poem
(Beautiful Ground) off their Sophtware Slump album. This video was created on a 1979 Apple computer that had 48K of RAM. It is an incredibly creative concept and it fits the whole Grandaddy feeling perfectly.

So, Queens of the Stoneage have been playing 'renegade' shows occasionally on this tour with Nine Inch Nails. So far they have played 5 or 6. They are shows that are annouced the day of and are at small venues. Now, in Winnipeg, there are two days before and after the show that there is nothing scheduled, which could mean that they will have a small show in Winnipeg. I hope to hell this happens as it would be amazing to see them at some place like the Pyramind. I am going to keep my eyes and ears open and if you want to do the same the messageboard on queensofthestoneage.com would probably be the best place to watch. Email me at [email protected] if anyone out there heres anything further.

Everyone should check out the Islands. If you don't know who they are it is 2/3 of the Unicorns (Nick Diamonds and Jamie), Jim Guthrie and some other dude(s). They have played a hand-full of dates in Montreal so far and have supposedly been quite amazing. They have an LP completed and it should be out before the year is over. To hear some of their music go their myspace site:
July 27th, 2005 Cuff the Duke is playing the Gimili Icelandic Festival this Sunday (July 31st). I(grant) might be going. Should be a badass show too. There will be no show this Thursday cause that son of a bitch Brad is busy. The following Thursdays show will destroy you all though.

July 13th, 2005 New Sigur Ros album details. It will be called Takk, which is apparently Icelandic for "thanks". The release date for the 11 track album is September 12th. Sigur Ros are also going on a north american tour. The closest they come to manitoba is minneapolis. Tickets are $29.50(US) for the show, its kinda far, but come on its Sigur Ros, us folks here at Gold Soundz are making the trek. The rest of the tour dates can be found here.

Its been awhile and I guess I should probably update something. These are some good internet radio station I listen to at work WOXY.com and SomaFM. Check out this video off of Jim Guthrie's Site jimguthrie.org. If you know what Jim Guthrie looks like then you should pause the video when they show the replay, if you don't know what he looks like then you probably won't get much out of this vid. Sufjan Stevens' new album "Illinois" is going to be released this tuesday, check it out. If you're a fan of the Smashing Pumpkins, like I am, check this out. Hopefully it happens but i'm not holding my breath, i'm pretty sure Billy is on bad terms with half the band, athough Jimmy has already agreed to be a part of it, which is no supprise.

Everyone should listen to this album. I have listened to this album frequently since it came out but I still always put it on. This music is so happy, sometimes its nice to listen to happy music. The Group Who Couldn't Say will blow your mind.
Gold Soundz focuses on independant music that you would normally not hear in Brandon. Being on a major label does not exclude bands from the show. It is more the independant sound we are looking for. We maintain a high level of Canadian bands. Check us out on CJ 106.5 FM every Thursday night from 9-11.
