Moscow, Russia

If you want to take an interesting trip, filled with history and beauty, travel to Moscow. A visa and invitation, a "must" for any visitor to Moscow, are not hard to obtain, just visit "Go To Russia.Net" on the internet. While in Moscow we stayed at the Seventh Floor Hotel. We found out about the hotel through thier website. The hotel was just as advertised. While inexpensive the rooms and service were excellent. Save some cash for checkout, like many smaller hotels, the Seventh Floor Hotel does not accept Credit Cards.

 A h h Red Sqaure!
Here we are in historic Red Square, the site of the famous (or as some would say, infamous) Red Army Parades. Directly behind us is St. Basils, with the Kremlin to the right and the elegant Gum Department store to the left.

Hi I'm John, Moscow is fascinating!
We're now on the other side of Red Square with our friend John who we met up with in Moscow while he was studying Russian at Moscow State University.

This is Lennin as he lies in state. His mausoleum is located in Red Square along side the Kremlin. Admission is free, although it is closed on certain days, so make sure you check the hours. During opening hours of the masoleum, cameras are not permitted on Red Square or in the mausoleum. Check them in near the Kremlin ticket booths(this is strictly enforced and there is a camera checkin fee).

The pictures at the left are all sights within the grounds of the Kremlin.

This is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier along the outside wall of the Kremlin. Its a tradition for the bride and groom to lay flowers on their wedding day at the tomb.

Hey, Here comes the train
Only two more stops

The photos above are of the Moscow subway. Click the top two pictures to enlarge them and hear actual recorded sounds of the subway trains and announcements. (Warning: it will take about 20 seconds for these two pages to load with a 56k modem.) The subway system is an attraction in and of itself. Each stop is designed with various types of old Soviet propoganda and unique architecture. We recommend buying one 60 ride ticket which can be used for several people. The Moscow subways are fast and reliable with trains ariving every 30 seconds to 2 minutes. A 60 ride ticket was aprox. USD5.00 in July 2000.

 O H !
We found this interesting statue among others near Ismalovo Park. Click on him to hear what we think he might say.

Be sure to visit our homepage and sign our guestbook, and while there, travel to our other pages to explore additional historic locations.
