Welcome to the D.M.Z.

No trip to Vietnam would be complete without a visit to the D.M.Z. Our goal here, will be, to give you some historical background to the locations visited along the D.M.Z. along with what can be seen there today. You will also find here, our insights and travel tips for visiting the area.

Located along route 9 which runs the length of the D.M.Z. is situated one of the most heavily fought over locations of the entire Vietnam War and is considered to be one of the greatest sieges in history. This location is Khe Sanh and the magnitude of the effort put into the struggle for its control even led President Johnson to create a diorama of its terrain to be studied in the White House.

Wow! This is where it all took place.
We are standing at the northern end looking south, of what at one time was the runway used so heavily by U.S. forces during the siege of Khe Sanh, as seen in the photo above. The platform we are standing on, is a remnant of the material used to cover the surface of the runway to allow for re-supply by C-130s.
