| "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed." Isaiah 6:8-10 There is no silence so deep, none so embarrassing, none so penetrating as the silence that usually follows the question, "Any volunteers?" I imagine the spokesperson has some inkling of the pained silence as God in heaven also does, as He seeks servers also. God does seek servers! For the love of humankind, He gives His saints the opportunity to share in His plan for the world. Are we? God permits us to give food to the hungry, wisdom to the ignorant, healing to the sick, forgiveness to the penitent, and hope to the confused. He wants to use us so we may have the joy of participating in service ~ serving Him! However, it is regrettable that the most common response to His call is silence. Instead of an eager, "I'll go!" the loyal sons and daughters of the loving Father too often sit mute, hands folded, unmoving. The more clearly Isaiah saw God, the more aware he became of his own powerlessness and inadequacy to do anything of lasting value without God. But he was willing to be God's spokesman! When God calls, will you also say, "Here am I, send me?" Application: All of God's saints need to go out and serve Him by telling all of sinful humankind that God gave His only Son on Calvary's cross to set us free! We don't have trouble communicating on other news issues, such as what we did at work, or at home, or trips we took, or sales we lucked out on, and so many other things. But what better news could we possibly share, than that of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!? Let's get busy Saints ~ we have work to do for our Heavenly Father. Let Him be proud as He sends us! May God bless you with a wonderful day as you do a mighty service through the Holy Spirit that would be pleasing to God today. Love in Christ, Sandy |
