| "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God." Ephesians 3:14-19 No matter how great our knowledge or power or fame, unless love is the moving force, our life here on earth is neither good nor great. The Apostle Paul tells us that abundant life of which Jesus speaks is a life that is "rooted and grounded in love" and that knows "the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge." Whoever lives in this love is a truly Spiritual person. God is love! The supreme self-revelation of God is to be seen in the love of Christ. So it is not surprising that Paul declares love to be the greatest of all things. It is the one thing that abides forever. Necessary as faith is in this life, love is greater because faith will end in seeing. Precious as hope is, love is greater because hope will end in fulfillment. Love is greater than all other gifts and blessings ~ it is the greatest of all! For we know that from the very beginning, God first loved us! Application: God's love is total ~ it reaches every corner; His love is wide ~ it covers the breadth of the whole world; God's love is long ~ it continues throughout our entire lives; His love is high ~ it rises to heights beyond our comprehension; God's love is deep ~ it reaches to depths of discouragment, despair, and even death. See how powerful love is and the wonder of its effects? It teaches us to be patient, kind, and generous. It keeps us from being envious and arrogant and proud. It makes for courtesy and unselfishness. It dwells on good rather than evil. It just puts the best in everything about us!
