"Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and
thy billows are gone over me. Yet the LORD will command his loving-
kindness in the day-time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and
my prayer unto the God of my life." Psalm 42:7-8

Elihu, in the Book of Job, asked, "Where is God who giveth songs in the
night?" David, here in this scripture, answers, "In the night His song shall
be with me."

All people will pass through dark valleys during their lives. All will become
ill ~ some permanently ill. For all of us there will be periods of suffering,
bereavement, discouragment, dangers, and difficulties. Sadly enough,
there are also many of those people who will give up their fidelity to God
because they do not believe He is fair. You will hear people ask, "What
have I done to deserve this? And, "Why is God punishing me?" Or, "Why
does my child have to be handicapped?" Then of course, with cancer
being so prominent today, "Why me, Lord?"

How will we answer these and similar questions? How will we learn to sing
songs at night? By having faith in the sovereignty of God! The world is not
being ruled by a chance but by a God Who is in control! Even a sparrow
cannot fall without His notice. Nothing can happen that does not concern
God! Jesus sang in the darkest night of His life on earth; the Apostle John
sang songs of joy and praise while in exile on the island of Patmos. At
midnight, David arose to give thanks to God (Psalm 119:62). And Paul
said, "When I am weak, then am I strong" (2Corinthians 12:10).

Application:
Our lives will become stronger and our spirituality deeper when we learn
to sing at songs at night. Each night as you sing a song of praise, you can
count on the Lord to bless your days!

Have a wonderfully blessed day in the Lord keeping a song in your heart!
