"What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone." James 2:14-17

God has sent each one of His children to proclaim good news in the mission field ~ a mission field which is right under our noses! As Christians, we know the best news is the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But there are many that do not know this. In the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10), the man who fell among the robbers was not interested in hearing the Gospel right there on the road. He had needs that seemed far more pressing. The Samaritan provided first aid, food, and shelter. Now that was good news for a half-dead man along the side of the road.

Why not take a look around us today. Perhaps a child needs the comfort of a hug or a fellow worker could use a word of recognition or a pat on the back. Many have teen-agers who want you to take time with them to talk. There are many shut-ins who would enjoy your company or perhaps taking them a small meal. How about your neighbor, who could maybe use a hand with a yard project? Little things such as these are all good news to those in need.

By providing "good news" as others perceive it, we share God's love. In this way, God opens the door for proclaiming His Good News, the story of what His Son has done for the people who need Him as their Savior and Lord.

May God bless you in sharing the love of Christ in your personal mission field today and always.

Love in Christ Jesus, Sandy
