February 28, 2001 Devotion

"And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me." Luke 9:23

This verse quite clearly says, "You have a choice to make!" Either you
choose to die in your sins, or you choose to trust in the One who died
for your sins. Which will it be? Do you think that on the day of
Judgment you can convince God you are worthy to be in heaven? Your
record won't stand a chance. You must point to Jesus, the wounded Son of
God, and say, "He has done it all for me! I come in His merit." If that
is your mindset, then you understand why Jesus died on the cross.
Learn to love the cross. Glory in it. It's the only way to heaven. And
the next time you stroll by a jewelry counter, look for the cross ~
remember its worthiness ~ symbolically, the cross is the ultimate
demonstration of the depth of God's love for humanity.
