. . . the Bible tells me so!

"But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have
obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you."
Romans 6:17

When you were in the world, when you were lost, you obeyed sin. It was
natural for you to do that. But when you have been saved, you have a new
nature that can obey Christ. Paul went through the experience of being a
new Christiann and discovering that there was no good in his old nature.
Paul says, "I know that in me (that is, my flesh), dwelleth no good
thing" (Romans 7:18). Although many of us have not discovered this,
there is no good in us; the old nature has no good in it. You can do a
lot to improve it, but you sure can't make it good.
Another startling fact is this: there is no power in the new nature.
That's where many of us make our mistake. We think that because we are
now Christians, we can walk on top of the world. We can't. We are just
as weak as we've ever been before. This is the reason that we have to
walk by faith and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Only the Spirit of
God can produce the Christian life. God Bless You.
