| I just wanted to share with you a little story about a beautiful girl named Jenny. I work at a local grocery store here in Orlando. I wear plain clothes and not a store uniform so I look like any other shopper. About 2 months ago I was standing near the bakery when I heard a little girl's voice yell "DADDY". I am a daddy myself so like all the rest of you dad's out there I looked up to see where the voice came from. There was a pretty little girl in a shopping cart pointing at ME! Well you all know what happens next....I made eye contact with the woman pushing the buggy who was staring at me like she was seeing a ghost. Let me clue you all in here...No she is not my daughter. (laughing to myself, OPD will understand) I playfully acted like I was going to tip-toe away when the woman said "Wow, you really do look like her daddy. I though it was him when I turned around". Well I laughed and walked up to them and a conversation started. The little girl's name is Jenny and she just stared at me and smiled. The woman with her turned out to be her aunt not her mother. We all talked and laughed about the whole thing and her aunt said she wished she had a camera so she could show Jenny's dad that he has a twin wandering around Orlando. I asked where Jenny's dad was from and found out he is from North Carolina. Most of you know I just moved back here from South Carolina so I laughed and said "well I guess I sound like him too". Its been a couple of months since this first meeting and I have been blessed to meet with Jenny and her aunt almost weekly while wandering the store. About two weeks ago I gave Jenny's aunt this web site and told her I was going to put a picture of me on it so Jenny's mom and dad could see me. Well a few days later I met up with them again and she said "That was a religious site, is it the right one?". I laughed and told her yes but I hadn't had the chance to put up my picture yet. She laughed and told me that their whole family are Christians and that she liked the site. I love meeting other Christians while I am out and about it just makes me all warm inside. I was very happy to know that Jesus would be a part of Jenny's life as she grows up because I feel thats a big part of whats wrong with young people today. There are so many homes out there where mom and dad try to raise children without Jesus in their lives and speaking from experience it does not work. Well today I came across Jenny and her aunt again and that little girls face was just beaming with that childish love that only a 3 year old can show. Jenny has gotten into a habit of calling me daddy which makes me laugh every time I hear it. Jenny also told me the newest thing she has learned and she is very proud of it. She smiled at me and said "Buckle Up, its the law". We all laughed and I told her how proud of her I was and that I would definately buckle up. It was about quitting time so I took the groceries I had picked up for my family and headed up front. I was in line paying for my stuff when Jenny's aunt came pushing their buggy up to me and said that Jenny had refused to leave until she gave me a kiss and hug. My heart instantly melted and I let Jenny give me a kiss on the cheek and a "Big ol Hug" (thats what my daughter calls them). What Jenny did next made me want to cry. This 3 year old little girl looked up and said "God Bless You Daddy". Well like I said I am not her daddy but there was no way to get out of this one. I smiled and laughed and told her God Bless you too. I told them I would put my picture up tonight so they could see it so thats what I am doing. In a city the size of Orlando Florida this little girl found me in a grocery store. She was convinced I was her daddy because we look so much alike. Her mommy and daddy are Christians as am I. Her daddy is from North Carolina not far from where I was living. Some people would say that this is such a coincidence but when I heard this little girl say "God Bless You" I knew it was not. That was exactly what it was. God gave me another blessing today in the form of a beautiful 3 year old little girl. I haven't had the chance to meet her mommy and daddy but I hope to one day. When you read this feel free to email me and maybe we can all go out to eat one night. I have a daughter who just turned 4 and she loves to make new friends, I would love for Jenny and Adara to meet. Never overlook the small blessings. God will put people in your path on a daily basis that can light up your life. If you don't believe me just wait until you meet Jenny or another of God's special little blessings who can light up a room with just a simple little smile. Jenny, I love you and always remember that Jesus does too. One day I hope the three of us can share a hug and a smile together in heaven. Dear heavenly Father, I pray that you will keep Jenny safe and sound as she goes through what I pray is a long and happy life. I pray that you will keep touching her family daily and that they will see your touch as I do. Lord I want to thank you for Jenny too. This little girl is not my daughter but I will always hold dear the times I have got to see and talk with her. Lord I pray that this little girl will keep blessing people in your name as she gets older and she will never be ashamed of the name of Jesus Christ as some are. I know as we get older its harder to talk openly of You but if we can be as you told us to and come to you as children we will all be blessed here on earth as well as in heaven. Thank you God for all Your love, blessings and sacrafices You make for us. I pray this simple prayer in the name of Your son Jesus Christ. Amen |
