Making the 3-point at the cost of the 8-point can prove costly in the future. Not moving the back checker allow White to move in relative freedom.
The split with 24/11 is profitable especialy since White's blot on Blue's 9-point is looking for a home. Also, 13/8 puts a spare on the 8-point.
I think 24/21 13/8 is the better play.
