Back in the 70's, the proper idea when conducting a blitz was thought to be total commitment.
Those old timers might play 13/10 13/11, adding a fifth builder for the 5-point.
This maximizes Red's chance to complete a close-out, but this play puts Red's army into two since Red's back checkers are left stranded.
It is sufficient for Red to bring a fourth builder for the 5-point either with 13/10 or 13/11 in order to win a gammon.
13/11 gives Red a better diversification, since 13/10 duplicates Red's good 5's which aim at both the 5 and 2-points, while 13/11 gives Red good 6's.
