This looks a bit like a possible reference position; is it a borderline double or borderline take, or neither?

Close money take (definate take) and more clear take at score.
-- Neil Kazaross

Small double AND small take (using g11 MET). Because of the very low volatility it's just a small double even when it's a close take.
GNUBG gives Red around 2% too much wins on 2-ply evaluation, as it usually overrates holding games, but it still gets the decision right.
3-ply (odd-ply) is more accurate with the equities in these situations.

Note: Snowie 4, eval gives Red more than 3% more wins.

I'm very sure White should cube. I'm not so sure what Red should do, but I would pass this at this score, where a doubled gammon is so valuable.
White doesn't have a lot of ammunition in place, but he has enough to keep Red on the bar while he brings more down. Red also has an open 5-point, which means White will still have play if things turn around.
-- Dean Gay

I find this to be a difficult position for which to estimate G and winning chances.
Red needs 25% plus around 60% of White's net gammons and White needs 27% to take a recube.
White has 22 ways to cover or make the 4-point plus 3 good non-covers (5-5,5-4). Even when White covers, he still has 2 more points to make and he's pretty short on builders.
Red has that strong four-point board so a non-cover by White - hit by Red - dance by White sequence could turn the game around to Red's favor.
I think White's shortage of builders and Red's strong board make Red a favorite to anchor. If this happens, it's anybody's game.
If White completes the close-out he's a big favorite to win a gammon and sometimes wins one when Red anchors.
-- John O'Hagan

This is not a good score to lose a doubled-gammon, but I do have nice recube vig.
My feeling was that this was a definite money take and a .98 take at this score (noting that White is just a bit short of builders and maybe he won't be able to cover right away).
Thus I took and lost a BG with 3 checkers closed-out.
The rollout shows that this is a close pass, rather than a bear take.
As for the bots, Snowie and GNU 3-ply also felt that it was a bear take, while GNU 2-ply failed to see the danger and felt that it was a clear take.
This position would still be takable for money, but at this score all the gammon losses mean too much.
