John Chapter 7 (Continued)

John 7:25-27 At that point some of the people of Jerusalem began to ask, "Isn't this the man they are trying to kill? Here he is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying a word to Him. Have the authorities really concluded that He is the Messiah (Christ)? But we know where this man is from; when the Messiah (Christ) comes, no one will know where He is from."

This man said the Messiah would not be known from where He came. The thought was that the identity of the Messiah would be unknown until He appeared in Israel and saved Israel. They did not understand He would have to suffer first.

John 7:28-29 Then cried Yeshua (Jesus) in the temple as He taught, saying, You both know me, and you know where I am from: and I am not come of myself, but He that sent Me is true, whom you know not. But I know Him: for I am from Him, and He has sent Me.

He says He comes from the Father and has a special relationship with Him like no one else.

John 7:30 Then they sought to take Him: but no man laid hands on Him, because His hour was not yet come.

They knew what He was saying and wanted to take Him but His time had not yet come. They believed Him to be a good man but not the Messiah or from above.

John 7:31 And many of the people believed on Him, and said, When Messiah (Christ) comes, will He do more miracles than these which this man has done?

Though many believed in Him.

John 7:32-33 The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning Him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him. Then said Yeshua (Jesus) to them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go to Him that sent Me.

He knew His time was short because He had already knew the evil one was in Judas.

John 7:34 You shall seek Me, and shall not find Me: and where I am, there you cannot come.

He predicts that He would ascend.

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Yeshua (Jesus) stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come to Me, and drink.

A tradition began a couple hundred years before Yeshua. The High Priest would draw a pitcher of water from the pool of Siloam and when he carried it back through the water gate to the temple.

This verse was recited:

Isaiah 12:3 Therefore with joy shall you draw water out of the wells of salvation.

The water was poured out on to the altar as a sacrifice at the time of the morning sacrifice. Yeshua used this occasion to invite all to accept Him, the living water.

John 7:38 He that believes on Me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly will flow rivers of living water.

This ceremony with the water also looked forward to living water, which Yeshua is the fulfillment of. (Zech 13:1, Ez 47:1-9, Rev 22:1-2)

John 7:39 (But this spoke He of Ruach (the Spirit), which they that believe on Him should receive: for Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) was not yet given; because that Yeshua (Jesus) was not yet glorified.)

Ruach HaKodesh (The Holy Spirit) was not yet given, because Yeshua was not yet glorified. Ruach HaKodesh is the source of spiritual understanding and so is the Brit Hadashah.

Ruach HaKodesh did not dwell in a person exactly like today. David prayed, Take not Your Ruach HaKodesh from me. A believer today should never pray this prayer because he does not have to worry about Ruach HaKodesh leaving.

John 7:40 Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, of a truth this is the Prophet.

This is the Prophet. (Moshe declared a prophet would come. Deut 18:15,18)

John 7:41 Others said, This is the Messiah (Christ). But some said, Shall Messiah (Christ) come out of Galilee?

This is the Messiah! Those people were Messiah observant and listened to Ruach HaKodesh.

John 7:42 Has not the scripture said, That Messiah (Christ) comes of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

Does not the Scripture say that the Messiah would come from the town of Bethlehem where David was?

In Micah chapter 5 we read: But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall He come forth to Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

This man listened to the Prophets yet did not consider investigating further.

John 7:43 So there was a division among the people because of Him.

Division - Truth causes division between those that claim to know it and those that do.

John 7:46 The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.

He spoke with Authority. Seven is the number that deals with perfection. He was, is, and always shall be perfection. His teaching was perfection.

John 7:47-50 Then the Pharisees answered them, Are you also deceived? Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on Him? But this people who knows not the law are cursed.

John 7:50-51 Nicodemus (he who came to Yeshua (Jesus) by night, being one of them) said to them, Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?"

These men ask, If they were starting to believe? Then they then claim it as deception.

Man in his own doctrine tries to keep the people from the truth. Many today still try to keep the people from the truth.

They where judging Yeshua under mans doctrine; falsely accusing Him to what they thought was the truth about the law. Dont follow mans idea of truth. If it contradicts Brit Hadashah it is of man. They called those that followed Yeshua cursed. Sound familiar? Believers that try to change His word will eventually receive judgment. (Physical life. Rev 22) Gnostics in the past have tried to change Brit Hadashah. Gnostics today try to change the words of Brit Hadashah and deceive others into changing the word of the New Covenant. They declare special understanding. They also mix truth with error just as the serpent did in the garden.

Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?

They were not Kingdom conscious.

John 7:52 They answered and said to Him, Are you also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee arises no prophet.

They searched the scriptures. This is what we all must do. Ignorance came when they did not find out that He actually came from Bethlehem. Ignorance came when they did not know He came from above. Ignorance in that they did not know His true purpose for us.
