John 16:15 All things that the Father has are mine: therefore said I, that He shall take of mine, and shall show it to you.
Because Yeshua is “G-d the Son” all that the “G-d the Father” has also belongs to Him too.
John 16:16 A little while, and you shall not see me: and again, a little while, and you shall see me, because I go to the Father.
He is referring here to His death and resurrection. He would then go to the Father again after a period of 40 days.
John 16:17 Then said some of His disciples among themselves, What is this that he said to us, A little while, and you shall not see me: and again, a little while, and you shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?
They did not have spiritual insight in what He was saying.
John 16:18-19 They said therefore, What is this that he said, A little while? we cannot tell what he said.
John 16:19 Jesus (Yeshua) knew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them, "Are you deliberating together about this, that I said, 'A little while, and you will not behold Me, and again a little while, and you will see Me'?
John 16:20 Verily, verily, I say to you, That you shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and you shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
They would be sad because they would lose what they thought would be their earthly King but they would later learn that He would bring the joy of eternal life. A covenant of better spiritual promises and which would have eternal consequences through all that He has done.
John 16:21-22 A woman when she is in travail has sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembered no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. And you now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man takes from you.
Once we have taken that step, no one can take away His promise from us. Even we, by our actions, cannot take away His promises.
John 16:23-24 And in that day you shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Because Yeshua is not here on earth we cannot ask Him face to face for anything. We are to ask the Father in Yeshua’s name. What does this mean? Did you ever have someone recommend a particular place of business, etc and tell you …“Tell (Joe) you are a friend of mine and he will take care of you.” So you get in touch with (Joe) and give him your friends name and all of a sudden you are treated as an honored, valued guest, etc. We can do the same thing with the Father. We go to Him in His sons name because we belong to Yeshua. When we pray we should end our prayer by saying “In Yeshua’s name we pray. Amen.”
John 16:25 These things have I spoken to you in proverbs: but the time comes, when I shall no more speak to you in proverbs (parables), but I shall show you plainly of the Father.
Yeshua used many examples in order to explain Bible truths to the people. He tells them that the time will come when he will no longer use parables.
John 16:26-27 At that day you shall ask in my name: and I say not to you, that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came out from G-d.
Why does the Father love us, because we love Yeshua and believe in Him.
John 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
He came from the Father in heaven and will return to the Father in heaven.
John 16:29-31 His disciples said to Him, "See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech! Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You. By this we believe that You came forth from G-d."
The talmidum tell Him they understand what He is saying.
John 16:32 Yeshua (Jesus) answered them, Do you now believe? Behold, the hour comes, yes, is now come, that you shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.
Yeshua, because His is G-d, knew what was about to happen. He knew that they were going to flee when He was taken prisoner. They would leave Him but the Father would never leave Him.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Yeshua tells us that life is not necessarily going to be easy. Many today teach that once one becomes a believer in Yeshua that they will have no more problems. That is simply not in the Bible. Yeshua reminds them that HE HAS THE VICTORY!
Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the L-rd G-D will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the L-RD hath spoken it.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57 O death, where then your victory? Where then your sting? For sin-the sting causes death-will all be gone; and the law (instructions), which reveals our sins, will no longer be our judge. How we thank G-d for all of this! It is He who makes us victorious through Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ) our L-rd!
