B'resheet (Genesis) Chapter 4 (Continued)

B'resheet 4:10-12 And He said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to Me from the ground. And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. When you cultivate the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you; you shall be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth."

Murder is a horrible thing. Because of his sin, Kayin would suffer consequences. He would no longer be able to earn his living by farming.

B'resheet 4:13-14 And Kayin (Cain) said to the L-RD, "My punishment is too great to bear! "Behold, You has driven me this day from the face of the ground; and from You face I shall be hidden, and I shall be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth, and it will come about that whoever finds me will kill me."

Notice, G-d did not take his life and He did not incarcerate him. Yet Kayin says his punishment is too great to bear.

Hevel is killed. This evil against those who follow the Father would continue in the future. (Matt. 21:33)

Matt 21:33-46 "Listen to another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard and put a wall around it and dug a wine press in it, and built a tower, and rented it out to vine-growers, and went on a journey. "And when the harvest time approached, he sent his slaves to the vine-growers to receive his produce. "And the vine-growers took his slaves and beat one, and killed another, and stoned a third. "Again he sent another group of slaves larger than the first; and they did the same thing to them. "But afterward he sent his son to them, saying, 'They will respect my son.' "But when the vine-growers saw the son, they said among themselves, 'This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and seize his inheritance.' "And they took him, and threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him. "Therefore when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vine-growers?" They said to Him, "He will bring those wretches to a wretched end, and will rent out the vineyard to other vine-growers, who will pay him the proceeds at the proper seasons." Yeshua said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures, 'The stone which the builders rejected, This became the chief corner stone; This came about from the L-rd, And it is marvelous in our eyes'? "Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of G-d will be taken away from you, and be given to a nation producing the fruit of it. "And he who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust." And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables, they understood that He was speaking about them. And when they sought to seize Him, they feared the multitudes, because they held Him to be a prophet. NAS

Some things never change. It still however pleased the Father that his son was killed. Strange. He came for this very purpose for our sake.

Isaiah 53:10-12 But the L-RD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the L-RD will prosper in His hand. As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities. Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors. (NAS)

Where would we be if He had not died for us? Our sins caused him to come and taste death for us and it was all for the good.

Rom 9:14-33 What shall we say then? There is no injustice with G-d, is there? May it never be! For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who runs, but on G-d who has mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth." So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires. You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who resists His will?" On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to G-d? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use, and another for common use? What if G-d, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? And He did so in order that He might make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory, even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles. As He says also in Hosea, "I will call those who were not My people, 'My people,' And her who was not beloved, 'beloved.'" "And it shall be that in the place where it was said to them, ' you are not My people,' There they shall be called sons of the living G-d." And Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, "Though the number of the sons of Israel be as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant that will be saved; for the L-rd will execute His word upon the earth, thoroughly and quickly. " And just as Isaiah foretold, "Except the L-rd of Sabbath had left to us a posterity, We would have become as Sodom, and would have resembled Gomorrah." What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith; but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone, just as it is written, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, And he who believes in Him will not be disappointed." NAS

Jews and Gentiles came to believe and became children of G-d through the mercy of His Son. Many Jews and Gentile reject the will of the Father out of jealousy or out of self will run amok.

B'resheet 4:15 So the L-RD said to him, "Therefore whoever kills Kayin (Cain), vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold." And the L-RD appointed a sign for Kayin (Cain), lest anyone finding him should slay him.

The L-rd still had concern for the welfare of Kayin (Cain) even though he had rejected His plan.

Same goes for today. HaShem still shows mercy for others. The rain falls on the just and the unjust - those that believe in the Son and those that do not believe in the Son.

2 Peter 3:9-10 The L-rd is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. NAS

a sign - G-d placed some sort of Mark of Kayin. Many have speculated on what this sign/mark was but the scriptures do not elaborate on it.

B'resheet 4:16 Then Kayin (Cain) went out from the presence of the L-RD, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

Nod - means wandering

There are always consequences to sin. Sin also interferes with our relationship with the L-rd causing us to be separated from Him, sometimes permanently.

The L-rd gives us a choice. HaSatan does not. He does not want you to come to know your Messiah and wants you to be separated from HaShem forever.

B'resheet 4:17-18 And Kayin (Cain) had relations with his wife and she conceived, and gave birth to Enoch (Hanokh); and he built a city, and called the name of the city Enoch, after the name of his son. Now to Hanokh (Enoch) was born Irad; and Irad became the father of Mehujael;(Mechuya'el) and Mehujael became the father of Methushael (Metusha'el); and Methushael became the father of Lemekh (Lamech).

his wife - So...where in the world did Kayin get his wife? So far we have read about Adam, Havah, Kayin, and Hevel. So where did Kayin's wife come from. Well let's peek ahead at a verse from the next chapter.

B'resheet 5:4 Then the days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years, and he had other sons and daughters.

Adam and Havah had many other children, both sons and daughters. Kayin would have had to marry a sister. At this point in time there was no laws given against marrying a sibling. That law would come later, at the time of Moshe (Moses). You see, man was made perfect, in every way and is not getting better, (i.e. Evolving) he is actually going down hill. The commands to not marry a sibling or other close family members where given because of genetic imperfections. It would have been necessary for the first generations to intermarry.

Built a city - Educators, the media, and Hollywood are constantly teaching us a pro-evolutionary viewpoint. Here the word of G-d teaches us that the first son built a city. While this city may not have been as large as New York or London. It was a city. When we think of a city we begin to think about government, laws, businesses, roads, bartering or some form of currency. There would be architectural design in the buildings and houses. This speaks of intelligence and is in complete contrast to the evolutionary point of view. Actually it should not be difficult to accept this because Man was made in the image of G-d.

B'resheet 4: 19-23 And Lemekh took to himself two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other, Tzilah (Zillah). And Adah gave birth to Yaval (Jabal); he was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock. And his brother's name was Yuval (Jubal); he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe. As for Tzilah, she also gave birth to Tuval-Kayin (Tubal-cain), the forger of all implements of bronze and iron; and the sister of Tuval-Kayin was Na'amah. And Lemekh said to his wives, "Adah and Tzilah, Listen to my voice, You wives of Lemekh, Give heed to my speech, For I have killed a man for wounding me; and a boy for striking me; If Kayin (Cain) is avenged sevenfold, Then Lemekh seventy-sevenfold. "

two wives - It was not G-d's plan for man to have more than one wife. G-d created Havah to be a helper for Adam, He did not create Havah and Hillary for Adam. Remember G-d stated that they TWO shall be one flesh.

B'resheet 2:24 For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Yeshua confirmed this:

Matthew 19:4-6 He answered and said, "Have you not read, that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said,' For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh'? "Consequently they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore G-d has joined together, let no man separate." NAS

dwell in tents - Some would have us believe that when mankind first came on the scene he lived in caves, tents and had a very primitive lifestyle. Here we see that at the same time that we have cities, others were living in tents. This is still true. Some men today dwell in tents (ie. Bedouins) and others dwell in cities (ie. Me).

The father of all those who play the lyre and pipe - Here is another piece of evidence that goes against evolutionary teaching. Mankind invented Musical instruments early on. This is another sign of superior intelligence.

The forger of all implements of bronze and iron - Whoa... The Iron Age was supposed to have been about 1,000 BCE (BC) and the bronze age about 3,000 BCE (BC). Here G-d tells us the Iron and Bronze where being forged and used at a much earlier period of time. Remember this is BEFORE the flood. I think the civilization was very advanced prior to the Flood and much knowledge was lost because of the flood.

B'resheet 4:25-26 And Adam had relations with his wife again; and she gave birth to a son, and named him Shet (Seth), for, she said, "G-d has appointed me another offspring in place of Hevel (Abel); for Kayin (Cain) killed him." And to Shet (Seth), to him also a son was born; and he called his name Enosh. Then men began to call upon the name of the L-RD.

Shet - means granted. G-d granted Havah another Son to replace Kayin.
