B'resheet 41:37-45 Now the proposal seemed good to Pharaoh and to all his servants. Then Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find a man like this, in whom is a divine spirit?" So Pharaoh said to Yosef, "Since G-d has informed you of all this, there is no one so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and according to your command all my people shall do homage; only in the throne I will be greater than you." And Pharaoh said to Yosef, "See I have set you over all the land of Egypt." Then Pharaoh took off his signet ring from his hand, and put it on Yosef's hand, and clothed him in garments of fine linen, and put the gold necklace around his neck. And he had him ride in his second chariot; and they proclaimed before him, "Bow the knee!" And he set him over all the land of Egypt. Moreover, Pharaoh said to Yosef, "Though I am Pharaoh, yet without your permission no one shall raise his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt." Then Pharaoh named Yosef Tzafnat-Pa'neach (Zaphenath-paneah); and he gave him Osnat (Asenath), the daughter of Poti-fera (Potiphera) priest of On, as his wife. And Yosef went forth over the land of Egypt.
Tzafnat-Pa'neach (Zaphenath-paneah) - There are a couple of different interpretations of this name: "a revealer of secrets" is the most popular.
Osnat (Asenath) - Belonging to Neith. Neith was the Egyptian goddess of war.
Poti-fera (Potiphera) - He who worships the sun.
On - This was another name for Heliopolis. Heliopolis was the center of sun worship in Egypt.
Yosef would arise and rule over all but the Pharaoh. This points us to Yeshua who will also arise to rule in Yerushalayim over all but the Father. The only difference is it will be after seven years of tribulation along with famine. Just before his rule Yosef receives a wife. Yeshua will also receive a wife just before His rule on earth. (Rev. 19:7)
Surely Yosef had his work cut out for him, teaching his new wife about the true and living G-d. So too Yeshua's bride has had to learn about the true and living G-d.
Notice the Pharaoh states people shall do homage to Yosef. When Yeshua returns to rule, people will also give homage to the Son. Pharaoh gives him his signet ring. Yeshua will have all authority too.
Tehillim (Psalms) 2:10-12 Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth. Worship the L-RD with reverence, And rejoice with trembling. Do homage to the Son, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
Yosef was also given a garment and chariot with horses. Yeshua will also be given a garment and white horses.
Rev 19:13-16 And He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood; and His name is called The Word of G-d. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. And from His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may smite the nations; and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of G-d, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND L-RD OF LORDS."
Yosef was given a golden necklace. Instead of a golden necklace Yeshua will have a golden girdle or belt above the waist. The garment and belt represent his royalty and priesthood. This belt will be pure gold not just laden with gold like "the type" that pointed to the real deal above. The belt of Yeshua exceeds the type.
Isaiah 11:4-5 But with righteousness He will judge the poor, And decide with fairness for the afflicted of the earth; And He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He will slay the wicked. Also righteousness will be the belt about His loins, And faithfulness the belt about His waist.
Rev 1:12-18 And having turned I saw seven golden lamp stands; and in the middle of the lamp stands one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His BREAST with a golden girdle. And His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire; and His feet were like burnished , when it has been caused to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of many waters. And in His right hand He held seven stars; and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as a dead man. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore,
Isaiah 4:2-6 In that day the Branch of the L-RD will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth will be the pride and the adornment of the survivors of Israel. And it will come about that he who is left in Zion and remains in Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) will be called holy-- everyone who is recorded for life in Yerushalayim. (cycle of life)When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the bloodshed of Yerushalayim from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and the spirit of burning, then the L-RD will create over the whole area of Mount Zion and over her assemblies a cloud by day, even smoke, and the brightness of a flaming fire by night; for over all the glory will be a canopy. And there will be a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and protection from the storm and the rain.
B'resheet 41:46-49 Now Yosef was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. And Yosef went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went through all the land of Egypt. And during the seven years of plenty the land brought forth abundantly. So he gathered all the food of these seven years, which occurred in the land of Egypt, and placed the food in the cities; he placed in every city the food from its own surrounding fields. Thus Yosef stored up grain in great abundance like the sand of the sea, until he stopped measuring it, for it was beyond measure.
Talk about a promotion! One minute Yosef is in a prison and the next minute he is second only to Pharaoh. Only G-d could make that happen.
We see the first part of the dream come to pass.
B'resheet 41:50-52 Now before the year of famine came, two sons were born to Yosef, whom Osnat, the daughter of Poti-fera priest of On, bore to him. And Yosef named the first-born M'nasheh (Manasseh), "For," he said, "G-d has made me forget all my trouble and all my father's household." And he named the second Efrayim (Ephraim), "For," he said, "G-d has made me fruitful in the land of my affliction."
M'nasheh - means "Causing to forget"
Efrayim - means fruit
B'resheet 41:53-57 When the seven years of plenty which had been in the land of Egypt came to an end, and the seven years of famine began to come, just as Yosef had said, then there was famine in all the lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. So when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried out to Pharaoh for bread; and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, "Go to Yosef; whatever he says to you, you shall do." When the famine was spread over all the face of the earth, then Yosef opened all the storehouses, and sold to the Egyptians; and the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. And the people of all the earth came to Egypt to buy grain from Yosef, because the famine was severe in all the earth.
Here we see cycles of life.
If you wanted bread to survive you had to go to Yosef. In the future, if you want the bread to survive eternally you have to go to the bread of life -Yeshua HaMashiach.
John 6:33-40 "For the bread of G-d is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world." They said therefore to Him, "Lord, evermore give us this bread." Yeshua said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. "But I said to you, that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. "All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. "For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. "And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day"
John 6:47-51"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. "I am the bread of life. "Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. "This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. "I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he shall live forever; and the bread also which I shall give for the life of the world is My flesh."
This is why He came. He also came to preach the kingdom.
Luke 4:43 But He said to them, "I must preach the kingdom of G-d to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose."
Instead of storing up grain like Yosef for the time of famine for the city, Yeshua will store up a kingdom of people to be stored up as many as the sand of the sea. They will live in a heavenly city away from a time of tribulation and famine.
Revelation 3:10-13 Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell upon the earth. 'I am coming quickly; hold fast what you have, in order that no one take your crown. 'He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My G-d, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write upon him the name of My G-d, and the name of the city of My G-d, the NEW YERUSHALAYIM, which comes down out of heaven from My G-d, and My new name. 'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches/synagogues.
Isaiah 26:20-21 Come, my people, enter into your rooms, And close your doors behind you; Hide for a little while, Until indignation runs its course. For look, the L-RD is about to come out from His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; And the earth will reveal her bloodshed, And will no longer cover her slain.
Matt 9:37-38 Then He (Yeshua) said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. "Therefore beseech the L-rd of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest."
