B'resheet (Genesis) Chapter 40 (Continued)

B'resheet 40:16-19 When the chief baker saw that he had interpreted favorably, he said to Yosef, "I also saw in my dream, and behold, there were three baskets of white bread on my head; and in the top basket there were some of all sorts of baked food for Pharaoh, and the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head. " Then Yosef answered and said, "This is its interpretation: the three baskets are three days; within three more days Pharaoh will lift up your head from you and will hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh off you. "

The baker would hang on a tree not unlike the bad thief who would hand on the execution stake and received not only death but also eternal separation from G-d for his sins.

B'resheet 40:20-23 Thus it came about on the third day, which was Pharaoh's birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief cupbearer and the head of the chief baker among his servants. And he restored the chief cupbearer to his office, and he put the cup into Pharaoh's hand; but he hanged the chief baker, just as Yosef had interpreted to them. Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Yosef, but forgot him.

Pharaoh's birthday - There are only two birthday parties mentioned in the Bible. The other birthday mentioned belong to Herod. In both cases someone lost their head.

Mattityahu (Matthew) 14:5-9 But when Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodia's danced before them and pleased Herod. Thereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she asked. And having been prompted by her mother, she said, "Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist."

Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Yosef, but forgot him. --- In contrast, we can be sure that Yeshua did not forget the good thief and brought him into paradise with Him regardless of any wrong he did and regardless of any action he could do to earn a pardon. He could not do anything but believe and trust in Yeshua on the execution stake. He was declared righteous like us all because of what Yeshua did for us - all we have to do is humble ourselves declaring our wrongs and trust that Yeshua died to set us free from our sin and eternal spiritual death.

State these words with a sincere heart - Father, forgive me for the wrongs that I have done. I trust that the precious blood of your Son is payment enough for these wrongs. Come into my heart and life. I accept this gift and promise and give my life to you. Thank You for sending your son to die for me. Thank you also for raising him up again. In Yeshua's name I pray, Amen.

Thank you L-rd for your wisdom through the power of Ruach HaKodesh.
