B'resheet 26:25 So he built an altar there, and called upon the name of the L-RD, and pitched his tent there; and there Yitz'chak's servants dug a well.
Yitz'chak could have gone to war with the Philistines because of their aggression. After all cutting off the water supply of someone in the desert is a very serious offense and could mean death to the individuals. Yitz'chak chose to turn the other cheek and dug new wells instead of fighting about the old ones.
Luke 6:27-38 "But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. "Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. "Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. "And just as you want people to treat you, treat them in the same way. "And if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. "And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. "And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, in order to receive back the same amount. "But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. "And do not judge and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned. "Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, they will pour into your lap. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.
B'resheet 26:26-29 Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar with his adviser Ahuzzath, and Phicol the commander of his army. And Yitz'chak said to them, "Why have you come to me, since you hate me, and have sent me away from you?" And they said, "We see plainly that the L-RD has been with you; so we said, 'Let there now be an oath between us, even between you and us, and let us make a covenant with you, that you will do us no harm, just as we have not touched you and have done to you nothing but good, and have sent you away in peace. You are now the blessed of the L-RD.' "
One can usually tell if one knows the L-rd and trusts in Him. This should be true of all true followers of HaShem. Just because they say they know Him doesn't mean they really know Him. You should be able to tell if one is genuine in one's faith by how they love one another. The L-rd also protects His own and will deal with those that harm them. His promises to you and me are true if we truly follow His Word and also the promises concerning trusting that He sent His Son. The Father will glorify the Son and He will reign in Jerusalem and we will be His kings and priests. What a wonderful future we will have. The fact that some of it did not happen yet does not and should not effect our belief in His word or His promises. To try to keep this blessing from others is as foolish as those that tried to keep G-d from blessing Yitz'chak. They finally came to realize that in order for them to be blessed also they had to stick close to Yitz'chak. The opportunity to quench this thirst should not be lost and would have eternal consequences. Don't try to keep the blessings of HaShem from others for it will only cause you harm and you may be held responsible for bringing spiritual death to others.
John 4:13-14 "Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.
Rev 22:13-20 "I am the Alpha and the Tahv, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying. "I, Yeshua, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star." And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost. I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, G-d shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone TAKES AWAY from the words of the book of this prophecy, G-d shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book. He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming quickly." Amen. Come, L-rd Yeshua.
B'resheet 26:30-33 Then he made them a feast, and they ate and drank. And in the morning they arose early and exchanged oaths; then Yitz'chak sent them away and they departed from him in peace. Now it came about on the same day, that Yitz'chak's servants came in and told him about the well which they had dug, and said to him, "We have found water." So he called it Shibah; therefore the name of the city is Beersheba to this day.
It was often the case that after a covenant was made there was a banquet.
Beersheba - means " the well of the oath"
B'resheet 26:34-35 And when Esau was forty years old he married Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite; and they brought grief to Yitz'chak and Rivkah.
Esau and his family although related still seemed to be rebellious against Yitz'chak then therefore they where rebellious against G-d. They may have not liked that the better blessings went to Yitz'chak and his family but that is what G-d did. IF we don't like the way G-d does things sometimes we all may become rebellious at times but eventually we must accept that we are not G-d and He knows best and the way He does things is best. He chose Yitz'chak for the greater blessing. Many may not have wanted Yitz'chak around including Gentiles like Abimelech but that is the way it was and the promises followed him. The same goes for Yeshua. Many may not like this or accept it but that is the way it was and that is the way it is and that is the way it shall be and the "BETTER" promises follow HIM and also those that follow Him.
