B'resheet 20:8-11 So Abimelech arose early in the morning and called all his servants and told all these things in their hearing; and the men were greatly frightened. Then Abimelech called Avraham and said to him, "What have you done to us? And how have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done to me things that ought not to be done." And Abimelech said to Avraham, "What have you encountered, that you have done this thing?" And Avraham said, "Because I thought, surely there is no fear of G-d in this place; and they will kill me because of my wife.
It is interesting that Avraham did this so that they would not kill him. So He thought the cause was for the greater good. In contrast Yeshua did get killed for the sake of his future wife.
Avraham comes to realize that all are not wicked and there are some beside him who do care about doing right before G-d.
B'resheet 20:12-18 Besides, she actually is my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother, and she became my wife; and it came about, when G-d caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her,' This is the kindness which you will show to me: everywhere we go, say of me, "He is my brother."' " Abimelech then took sheep and oxen and male and female servants, and gave them to Avraham, and restored his wife Sarah to him. And Abimelech said, "Behold, my land is before you; settle wherever you please." And to Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; behold, it is your vindication before all who are with you, and before all men you are cleared." And Avraham prayed to G-d; and G-d healed Abimelech and his wife and his maids, so that they bore children. For the L-RD had closed fast all the wombs of the household of Abimelech because of Sarah, Avraham's wife. NAS
You have Avraham declaring Sarah as a sister and now you have Sarah claiming Avraham as her brother to save his life.
Avimelekh rewards Avraham and obeys G-d. This is what you would call heaping coals of fire on a person's head for doing you wrong. He rewards Avraham for doing Him wrong through the instruction of the Father. (See Romans 12:17-21)
Should G-d judge a nation of ignorance in regards to the death of His son?
Through the instruction of the Father, His Son died. So by going through the Son we can be rewarded eternally, this includes those who are of the nation of Israel. How?
When Avraham did wrong ....he thought he was preserving his life. G-d in His mercy allowed this and still intended to bless Avraham and He also intended to bless us. He also wants us to get a picture here of what happened for it also points to the future time. If we look through the New Covenant glasses we know we also are blessed by looking at what happened to Avimelekh through Avraham.
We look for similarities of a blessing for those that saw it before and for those that search to see it now and are saved from eternal spiritual death.
This too was not built on actions but was a promise. Let's continue for it gets really interesting here:
Who else in the Scripture benefited when doing wrong and received silver?
Judas
G-d allowed it for the good. He allowed it for our life-eternal life and because of it we were cleared.
Did Yeshua speak the truth when He said, He was the true Son of G-d?
He told the whole truth. He was and is not half-G-d and half man. He is totally G-d and totally man. He was also the Only true begotten (not made) Son.
John 10:36-38 do you say of Him, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world,' You are blaspheming,' because I said,' I am the Son of G-d'? "If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; 38 but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father. "NAS
The Father so loved the world so much that He gave his ONLY begotten Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but receive eternal life. Again, He allowed it for the good - to save the lives of many for eternity. This also included Judas but Judas killed himself physically and spiritually. He did not see or want to see what it could all mean for him and us. Yeshua said it would have been better for him if he had not been born. This does not mean it was not available for him to receive.
Yeshua really meant it when He said,
Luke 6:27-35 But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. "Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either. "Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back. "And just as you want people to treat you, treat them in the same way. "And if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. "And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. "And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, in order to receive back the same amount. "But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. NAS
It is interesting that we had Avimelekh claim innocence because of not understanding.
In the future, we have Pilate doing the same. Yeshua was given, from above, to Pilate. In his misunderstanding, he allows a life to be taken and states:
"I am innocent of Man's blood; see to that yourselves." (Matt. 27:24)
Again, ignorance is no excuse. Should G-d destroy a nation because it is blameless?
Also it is interesting that we have Avimelekh who states, "She said, He is my brother, In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands, I have done this."
Then in the future we have, Judas who did wrong to betray a life. In similar manner but in CONTRAST, what does Judas say?
Matt 27:3-4 Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and leaders, saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." What is that to us? See to it yourself.
Contrast is nothing new in the Scripture. David, etc. also wrote proverbs in this manner through Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) and the same spirit reveals this to you here.
Another point:
When Avimelekh's servants found out about the wrong they became frightened and feared Avraham's G-d. In contrast, when Judah's friends found out about innocent blood instead of fear about it they said, What is that to us? See to it yourself.
Also in contrast these men did not declare their innocence.
Matt 27:6-10 And the chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury, since it is the price of blood." And they counseled together and with the money bought the Potter's Field as a burial place for strangers. For this reason that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of the one whose price had been set by the sons of Israel; and they gave them for the Potter's Field, as the Lord directed me. " NAS
Another point:
Avimelekh states, "What have you done to us?" and "I have sinned", and Sarah states her conscious is clear because she thought she might be saving Avraham's life. In similar manner, but in complete contrast, we have Judas stating I have sinned, but who is in remorse for what he had done. He did not realize that it actually would be for the good of many.
You still have time to be blessed by looking through the spiritual implications of the Avrahamic covenant. In the future not understanding this will not be an excuse for anyone. The Father did let His Son be touched. In contrast to Sarah was not allowed to be touched. Betrayal and death of Yeshua that brought an eternal spiritual blessing for all that are willing to see it and listen to this instruction from the Father. Are you willing?
What was the blessing that Avimelekh received? More children.
Why? Because He was willing to humble himself before G-d and receive pardon through Avraham by G-d's instruction. We can also receive pardon and become children of the Most High therefore adding to the kingdom above only by humbling ourselves and receiving pardon through Yeshua, which was also by G-d's instruction.
We as His children should pray to the Father for the sake and well being of others. Pray for those that do not know Yeshua.
Father,
We ask that you help them to realize this truth and that you have sent the Son. May they open their hearts to You. You know and can tell if their hearts are asking truthfully and sincerely. May they be blessed by Your Son who thought nothing of Himself for the sake of your children. Amen.
