B'resheet (Genesis) Chapter 1 (Continued)

What is this darkness?

Darkness is being separated from light. This darkness for some will last for eternity.

Jude 1:12-13 These men are those who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted; wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever. NAS

Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this Darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. NAS

Recap: G-d separates the darkness from the light. He calls the light DAY, and the darkness NIGHT.

1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 But you, brothers, are not in DARKNESS, that the day should overtake you like a thief; for you are all sons of light and "sons of DAY". We are not of NIGHT nor of darkness; NAS

Proverbs 4:18-19 But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know over what they stumble. (NAS)

We also have light and dark for something called "ONE DAY".

What does this mean? Is this a span of time as a literal day? Or is this a longer span of time? The Hebrew word is "Yom". So I take it as such. G-d can measure a twenty-four hour time without the literal sun. I have faith the He created everything in six literal days and that this was not beyond His power, which is without limit.

Yom Sheni - Second Day of Creation

B'resheet 1:6-8 Then G-d said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters." And G-d made the expanse, and separated the waters, which were below the expanse from the waters, which were above the expanse; and it was so. And G-d called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

It is believed that before the flood of Noah, a canopy of water vapor surrounded the earth. This canopy acted to make the earth a hot house.

There is still present NIGHT (Darkness) and Day (LIGHT), a second day.

There a second day. Again, I take this as a literal day.

We come to the second Hebrew letter that corresponds - Beit - division between good and evil. The Darkness and the LIGHT. We also have duality, which fits with our letter. We have waters being separated from other waters. A Dome was created which was the sky.

Yom Shelishi - Third Day of Creation

B'resheet 1:9-13 Then G-d said, "Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so. And G-d called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and G-d saw that it was good. Then G-d said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with seed in them, on the earth"; and it was so. And the earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with seed in them, after their kind; and G-d saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.

Now we have the continents and seas.

after their kind - G-d created the Plants to reproduce the same type of fruit. Animals were to reproduce after their kind also. An orange tree will not produce apples. A dog will not have kittens. This simple phrase "after their kind" refutes evolution.

ON the third day we have seeds and vegetation, which fits nicely with our third letter to correspond to the third day. Gimel - culmination, as in planting a seed and caring for it until it matures.

Yom Revii - Fourth Day of Creation

B'resheet 1:14-19 Then G-d said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth "; and it was so. And G-d made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. And G-d placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and G-d saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

Here we have seasons, which we know to be four seasons. The fourth letter is the symbol of dimensions and concern. We can now measure the dimension of time from the sun. On this planet we need warmth and literal light for continued growth. We have the creation of the stars, sun and the moon.

Yom Chamishi - Fifth Day of Creation

B'resheet 1:20-23 Then G-d said, "Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens." And G-d created the great sea monsters, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and G-d saw that it was good. And G-d blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth." And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.

G-d shows mercy/grace by His blessing. Five is representative of Grace. Divine decree: Be fruitful and multiply, etc. Nature is passive to HaShem. Glorify G-d, not so called, "MOTHER" NATURE! Which some quote "Mother" to illustrate Nature. No mother controls nature. All Nature must obey G-d. (Job 36:27-37:37)

Yeshua illustrated this when He controlled the storms and when He cursed the fig tree that would not bear fruit and it withered away.

The Spirit leads us in to what the L-rd wills us to do. The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. Labor to bear fruit in others.

Luke 8:24-And they came to Him and woke Him up, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" And being aroused, He rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm. (NAS)

Matthew 21:19 And seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it, and found nothing on it except leaves only; and He said to it, "No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you." And at once the fig tree withered. (NAS)

The tree was not doing the job G-d described it to do. It was therefore rebuked by G-d who eventually destroyed it.

Yom HaShishi - Sixth Day of Creation

B'resheet 1:24-25 Then G-d said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind"; and it was so. And G-d made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and G-d saw that it was good.

Again we see the words "after their kind" refuting the notion (theory) of evolution presented as "fact" today by many.

B'resheet 1:26-27 Then G-d said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." And G-d created man in His own image, in the image of G-d He created him; male and female He created them.

Again we have three individuals. Our image. Our likeness. Again there is a tri-unity clearly involved. We have the Father. We also have the Son and the Holy Spirit. Yeshua was one of those individuals and we know we were made in His image. Yeshua also confirmed that Adam and Eve were literally created by G-d. (Matt. 23:35)

Man is made in the image of G-d. He is comprised of body, soul, and spirit. One-person three parts. ;~)

Yeshua's image was visible and was that of a man. He could be heard walking in the cool of the day with Adam. (Gen 3:8) This presence of Yeshua before His birth is called Theophany and we will see this illustrated through out the Word in the past and it will be further illustrated in the coming chapters. In any event, Man also has a soul that is distinct from a spirit. There is a fine distinction between the spirit and the soul. (Heb. 4:12)

B'resheet 1:28-31 And G-d blessed them; and G-d said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." Then G-d said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food "; and it was so. And G-d saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. NAS

Vegetarians - G-d initially gave man and the animals only fruits and vegetables to eat.

Very good - the whole week of creation was not just good. It was very good.

Subdue - This means to "rule over" - mankind was different from the rest of creation. Mankind was made in G-d's image (This is not said of any other part of G-d's creation.) and given authority over the rest of creation. Man is not an animal. He is superior to the rest of creation.

This corresponds to the sixth letter VAV - stands for man created on the sixth day. It also denotes physical completion, redemption and transformation.

G-d would redeem us for eternity through one man. That man would be Yeshua Ben Yosef the one promised, offspring of the women, which we will learn more about in the third chapter.

This man is a light to all mankind. He wants to do today what He did many centuries ago. Keep us all from complete darkness. We can be like two individuals lost at sea at night floating endlessly on a float preserver. Both will see a light in the distance but with different results. One will hope that the light was formed by intelligent life or the other will say the light was just formed by chance or without any purpose behind it. They would rather find a light that shines on their own terms. We also have those that are searching in space for intelligent life and waiting for a voice to call out to them while totally ignoring the Words in the Scriptures that speak to us from an intelligent yet not totally understood source. Instead of embracing this source they only try to avoid and search for other sources. Why? One can only come to the conclusion that they want to be saved on their own terms or prefer to remain in darkness. While one individual may call out to the light with hope and joy, another individual will hide further into darkness.

What brings one to the truth and another to run from it?

What a mystery.
