B'resheet (Genesis) Chapter 10 (Continued)

B'resheet 10:15-19 And Kena'an (Canaan) became the father of Tzidon (Sidon), his first-born, and Het (Heth) and the Y'vusi (Jebusite) and the Emori (Amorite) and the Girgashi (Girgashite) and the Hivi (Hivite) and the 'Arki (Arkite) and the Sini (Sinite) and the Hivi (Hivite) and the 'Arki (Arkite) and the Sini (Sinite) and the Hivi (Hivite) and the 'Arki (Arkite) and the Sini (Sinite) and the Arvadi (Arvadite) and the Tz'mari (Zemarite) and the Hamati (Hamathite); and afterward the families of the Kena'ani (Canaanite) were spread abroad. And the territory of the Kena'ani (Canaanite) extended from Tzidon (Sidon) as you go toward G'rar (Gerar), as far as 'Azah (Gaza); as you go toward S'dom (Sodom) and 'Amora (Gomorrah) and Admah and Tzvoyim (Zeboiim), as far as Lesha.

Sidon = City on Coast of Lebanon

S'dom (Sodom) and 'Amora (Gomorrah) - Area near the Dead Sea.

B'resheet 10:20 These are the sons of Ham, according to their families, according to their languages, by their lands, by their nations.

The tenth letter that corresponds to this chapter is Yod - metaphysical letter meaning hand - the right hand of G-d.

G-d would choose a people to bring about the Torah (His Word) and also His Righteous Son. These people would come through the descendents of Shem. They would accept a great responsibility in following HaShem. HE had to reveal our sin through the Torah and everyone's need for a Savior.

Rom 5:12-13 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned-- for until the Law sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed when there is no law. NAS

Sin was imputed to us and the instructions confirmed this fact. And the instruction came in that the transgression might increase. The instruction really reveals our true state: which is imperfect. We had a sacrifice that pointed to the ultimate sacrifice. The temporary sacrifice needed to be repeated over and over again to cover our sins. The ultimate sacrifice takes our sins away for eternity. You tell me, which is better?

Does this mean that the instruction is no longer of any effect? NO.

Some still need to understand that they are unclean and need to humble themselves to what the Messiah brings to us spiritually.

And the Law came in that the transgression might increase, but where sin abounded all the more, that, as sin reigned in death, seven so grace/mercy reign through righteousness to eternal life through Yeshua HaMashiach our L-rd. (Rom. 5:20-21)

Descendents of Shem

B'resheet 10:21 And also to Shem, the father of all the children of 'Ever (Eber), and the older brother of Yefet (Japheth), children were born.

B'resheet 10:22 The sons of Shem were Elam and Ashur and Arpakhshad (Arpachshad) and Lud and Aram.

B'resheet 10:23 And the sons of Aram were Utz and Hul and Geter and Mash.

B'resheet 10:24 And Arpakhshad (Arpachshad) became the father of Shelach; and Shelach became the father of 'Ever (Eber).

Arphaxad =(Southern Iraq)

B'resheet 10:25 And two sons were born to Eber; the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.

Peleg means division

for in his days the earth was divided - It is believed and taught by the creation scientists that this is a reference to continental drift and division. This would help explain how the animals and people were able to migrate through out the earth.

Avram descended from Peleg. This is the line of the Messiah.

B'resheet 10:26-29 And Joktan became the father of Almodad and Shelef (Sheleph) and Hatzar-Mavet (Hazarmaveth) and Yerach (Jerah) and Hadoram and Uzal and Diklah and Oval (Obal) and Avima'el (Abimael) and Sheva (Sheba) and Ofir (Ophir) and Havilah and Yovav (Jobab); all these were the sons of Yoktan (Joktan).

Arabs

B'resheet 10:30-32 Now their settlement extended from Mesha as you go toward S'far (Sephar), the hill country of the east. These are the sons of Shem, according to their families, according to their languages, by their lands, according to their nations. These are the families of the sons of Noach, according to their genealogies, by their nations; and out of these the nations were separated on the earth after the flood. (NAS)

That's it! Our family tree. We are all a part of it, like it or not. We are all brothers and sisters in the human family descended from Noach. But we are NOT AUTOMATICALLY all members of G-d's family. In order to be a member in G-d's family He must adopt us.

Galatians 4:1-7 Now I say, as long as the heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave although he is owner of everything, but he is under guardians and managers until the date set by the father. So also we, while we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental things of the world. But when the fullness of the time came, G-d sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, in order that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, G-d has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through G-d. (NAS)

It is quite a simple process to be adopted by G-d. It is a two-step process: faith and repentance.

Simply pray and ask G-d to forgive you of your sins and acknowledge Yeshua's shed blood as the atonement for your sins. Accept Him as your Messiah today.
