Sh'mot (Exodus) Chapter 9 (Continued)

Sh'mot 9:18-21 Look, about this time tomorrow, I will send a very heavy hail, such as has not been seen in Egypt from the day it was founded until now. Now therefore send, bring your livestock and whatever you have in the field to safety. Every man and beast that is found in the field and is not brought home, when the hail comes down on them, will die."' " The one among the servants of Pharaoh who feared the word of the L-RD made his servants and his livestock flee into the houses; but he who paid no regard to the word of the L-RD left his servants and his livestock in the field.

This is the seventh plague - The plague of Hail. It was directed against Nut the Egyptian sky goddess.

Has not been seen in Egypt - this is going to be the most severe hailstorm to ever hit Egypt.

The L-rd could have destroyed them all but He showed mercy. He showed mercy only for His cause and purpose - in order to proclaim His name through all the earth.

The corresponding letter to this chapter is Tet-serpent; objective good - that which appears evil but is for our improvement.

Will die - These must have been giant hailstones. The Egyptians who believed in the G-d of Israel heeded this warning.

Sh'mot 9:22-26 Now the L-RD said to Moshe, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky, that hail may fall on all the land of Egypt, on man and on beast and on every plant of the field, throughout the land of Egypt." And Moshe stretched out his staff toward the sky, and the L-RD sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the L-RD rained hail on the land of Egypt. So there was hail, and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail, very severe, such as had not been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. And the hail struck all that was in the field through all the land of Egypt, both man and beast; the hail also struck every plant of the field and shattered every tree of the field. Only in the land of Goshen, where the sons of Israel were, there was no hail.

Only in the land of Goshen - Once again the children of Israel were spared the wrath of G-d.

Judgment will also come in the future to those that do not have any regard for the word of the L-rd.

Revelation 8:7 And the first sounded, and there came hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth; and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.

Also In the future there will be another great hailstorm.

Revelation 16:17-21 And the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air; and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying, "It is done." And there were flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder; and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty. And the great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And Babylon the great was remembered before G-d, to give her the cup of the wine of His fierce wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon men; and men blasphemed G-d because of the plague of the hail, because its plague was extremely severe. NAS

Sh'mot 9:27-35 Then Pharaoh sent for Moshe and Aaron, and said to them, "I have sinned this time; the L-RD is the righteous one, and I and my people are the wicked ones. Make supplication to the L-RD, for there has been enough of G-d's thunder and hail; and I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer." And Moshe said to him, "As soon as I go out of the city, I will spread out my hands to the L-RD; the thunder will cease, and there will be hail no longer, that you may know that the earth is the L-rd's. But as for you and your servants, I know that you do not yet fear the L-RD G-d." (Now the flax and the barley were ruined, for the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud. But the wheat and the spelt were not ruined, for they ripen late.) So Moshe went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread out his hands to the L-RD; and the thunder and the hail ceased, and rain no longer poured on the earth. But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder had ceased, he sinned again and hardened his heart, he and his servants. And Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not let the sons of Israel go, just as the L-RD had spoken through Moshe. NAS

All of the crops that were already planted and starting to grow were wiped out.

The L-rd knew the pharaoh's heart and that the pharaoh would change his heart against him again. Pharaoh is beginning realize what Moshe said is true; however, he still rejects it. The judgments against him become worse and worse.

What about your heart? Will you continue to reject His Son and what He has done for those that are willing to listen? Or will you harden your heart again like pharaoh. The L-rd knows. The more truth you are given and you reject it the worse will your judgment be after this life.
