Sh'mot 4:10-17 But Moshe said to the L-RD, "Oh, my L-rd, I am not eloquent, either heretofore or since thou has spoken to your servant; but I am slow of speech and of tongue." Then the L-RD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Who makes him dumb, or deaf, or seeing, or blind? Is it not I, the L-RD? Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall speak." But he said, "Oh, my L-rd, send, I pray, some other person." Then the anger of the L-RD was kindled against Moshe and he said, "Is there not Aharon, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well; and look, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you he will be glad in his heart. And you shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth; and I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do. He shall speak for you to the people; and he shall be a mouth for you, and you shall be to him as G-d. And you shall take in your hand this rod, with which you shall do the signs."
Here we see Moshe's 4th objection.
Here we see that Moshe is human just like you and me. Sometimes we don't want to do the things we should because of our weaknesses. In contrast, there is our Messiah who is perfect in all His ways and takes after the Father. HaShem always provides a way to help us accomplish a task He asks us to do. He never asks us to do something we are not able. In the end, Moshe obeyed the L-rd. Were we are weak; He is strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 And He has said to me, "My mercy is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Messiah may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Messiah's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.
G-d gave Moshe a helper in his older brother Aharon. G-d sent them out in twos. He also did this with His talmidim (disciples).
Luke 10:1-3 Now after this the L-rd appointed seventy others, and sent them two and two ahead of Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come. And He was saying to them, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the L-rd of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. "Go your ways; look, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. NAS
In the future there will be two who will display the power of G-d in a manner similar to Moshe and Elijah.
Revelation 11:3-12 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth." These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the G-d of the earth. And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire. Now when they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our L-rd was crucified. Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves. And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth. Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from G-d entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them. NKJV
These witnesses will also be a "type" pointing to Him. They will die and rise again in 3 days too. They will also ascend into heaven. Moshe returns to Egypt after many years to pronounce the judgment of G-d. Will Moshe return again in the future to pronounce the judgments above in Revelation eleven? We will have to wait and see.
In our study, G-d just said He would help Moshe and He does. He is the one who does the work in us too.
Philippians 2:12-18 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is G-d who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or disputing; that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of G-d above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Messiah I may have cause to glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain. But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith/trust, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. NAS
Back to Moshe:
Sh'mot 4:18 Then Moshe departed and returned to Jethro his father-in-law, and said to him, "Please, let me go, that I may return to my brothers who are in Egypt, and see if they are still alive." And Jethro said to Moshe, "Go in peace."
Moshe worked as a shepherd for his father-in-law and got His blessing before leaving to return to Egypt.
Sh'mot 4:19-23 Now the L-RD said to Moshe in Midian, "Go back to Egypt, for all the men who were seeking your life are dead." So Moshe took his wife and his sons and mounted them on a donkey, and he returned to the land of Egypt. Moshe also took the staff of G-d in his hand. And the L-RD said to Moshe, "When you go back to Egypt see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your power; but I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go. Then you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the L-RD," Israel is My son, My first-born. So I said to you, 'Let My son go, that he may serve Me'; but you have refused to let him go. Look, I will kill your son, your first-born."'
The Pharaoh's first born would be killed and come under judgment from G-d. The Pharaoh himself was considered a god and so was his son. In Egypt, each plague was directed against a different Egyptian god. In the case of the last plague it was against Pharaoh himself. The Father would also go against the future ruler of Israel, that is His own son, Yeshua HaMashiach. You guessed it the Pharaoh and his son also point to the Father and Son. In the case of Pharaoh, because of his son's death he wanted to destroy Israel. In the case of the Father, He used His death to save us eternally and to destroy sin and death.
Moshe would humbly go in front of the court of Pharaoh to display the power and glory of the G-d of Israel. Yeshua would go in front of the court of Rome to display the humility of the Son. This also was for the glory of the G-d of Israel. We also see an example of G-d hardening someone's heart for His own purpose.
Sh'mot 4:24-26 And it came to pass on the way, at the encampment, that the L-RD met him and sought to kill him. Then Tzipporah took a sharp stone and cut off the foreskin of her son and cast it at Moshe' feet, and said, "Surely you are a husband of blood to me!" So He let him go. Then she said, "You are a husband of blood!"--because of the circumcision.
That the L-RD met him - This is an appearance of G-d in the flesh. Hmmmm...who might that be?
Moshe should have known better. He should have circumcised His sons when they were born. G-d called him to lead the people of Israel. A leader must be an example to the people he leads. If Moshe's son was not circumcised the rest of the nation would follow Him in disobedience as well.
Here we see Tzipporah's heart is hardened to the circumcision of the flesh because of the blood.
Many people's heart were hardened and are still hardened today to the covenant of blood concerning the promises of the Messiah because of how bloody it is and because it is built on a death of another. Our Messiah is a husband of blood. This is a circumcision of the heart.
Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 31:31-34 "Look, days are coming," declares the L-RD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, NOT like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them, "declares the L-RD. "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the L-RD, "I will put My law within them, and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their G-d, and they shall be My people. "And they shall not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, 'Know the L-RD,' for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the L-RD, "for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more. NAS
1 Yochanan (John) 1:5-7 And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that G-d is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; but if we walk in the light as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Messiah His Son cleanses us from all sin. NAS
Sh'mot 4:27-31 And the L-RD (Adonai) said to Aharon, "Go into the wilderness to meet Moshe." So he went and met him on the mountain of G-d, and kissed him. So Moshe told Aharon all the words of the L-RD who had sent him, and all the signs which He had commanded him. Then Moshe and Aharon went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel. And Aharon spoke all the words which the L-RD had spoken to Moshe. Then he did the signs in the sight of the people. So the people believed; and when they heard that the L-RD had visited the children of Israel and that He had looked on their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped. NKJV
Here we see a kiss by a brother after G-d was going to kill him because of a circumcision of the flesh followed by signs and wonders. In the future, In contrast, we see signs and wonders first and then we see a kiss by a brother (Judas; the son of perdition) Before G-d kills the Messiah on the execution stake because of the circumcision of the heart. (This is another dimension of Bible study)
So the people believed - What a relief it must have been to know the end of their slavery was near.
