Sh'mot 20:18-19 And all the people perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood at a distance. Then they said to Moshe, "Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not G-d speak to us, lest we die."
They said they would listen to Moshe.
Sh'mot 20:20-21 And Moshe said to the people, "DO NOT BE AFRAID"; for G-d has come in order to "TEST YOU", and in order that the fear of Him may remain with you, so that you may not sin." So the people stood at a distance, while Moshe approached the thick cloud where G-d was.
The Father came to Moshe in a cloud. Moshe told them not be afraid -that HaShem came to test them and we are to fear Him. Like Adam we are tested to illustrate our need for a Messiah.
The Father also came to Yeshua in a cloud and He has said, "He is well pleased with His Son and to listen to Him."
Matthew 17:5-7 While he was still speaking, look, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and look, a voice out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!" And when the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were much afraid. And Yeshua came to them and touched them and said, "Arise, and DO NOT BE AFRAID."
Should we not listen to what Yeshua (salvation) said too?
Yeshua also tells them not to be afraid. He came declaring the kingdom of heaven is at hand. He has overcome and conquered the world. We can do the same through Him.
John 16:33 In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world." NAS
1 John 5:1-5 Whoever believes that Yeshua is the Messiah is born of G-d; and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. By this we know that we love the children of G-d, when we love G-d and observe His commandments. For this is the love of G-d, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of G-d overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world-- our FAITH. And who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Yeshua is the Son of G-d?
He also said we are to love the L-rd with all our heart, all our strength and might and love others as we love ourselves.
The Messiah was tested in the wilderness just like the "type"-that is Israel. In contrast, He passed because of His righteousness and His righteousness alone. If we trust this by faith His righteousness is applied to us for eternal life. How did he fight temptation- through the Word of HaShem.
Matthew 4:1-10 Then Yeshua (Salvation) was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by HaSatan. And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. And the tempter came and said to Him, "If You are the Son of G-d, command that these stones become bread." But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of G-d.'" Then the devil took Him into the holy city; and he had Him stand on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of G-d throw Yourself down; for it is written, 'He will give His angels charge concerning You'; and 'On their hands they will bear You up, Lest You strike Your foot against a stone.'" Yeshua (Salvation) said to him, "On the other hand, it is written, 'You shall not put the L-rd your G-d to the test.'" Again, HaSatan took Him to a very high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world, and their glory; and he said to Him, "All these things will I give You, if You fall down and worship me." Then Yeshua said to him, "Be gone, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the L-rd your G-d, and serve Him only.'"
The third test to Yeshua is the same test that will be given to Israel. But Israel sinned; they will worship the golden calf. Yeshua however tells the adversary "Be gone, you will worship the L-rd you G-d and serve Him only."
What are the odds of Yeshua fulfilling the prophecies concerning His first coming? Very High!
Tell me this, what are the odds that Israel too would fulfill the "type" and be like Yeshua in many ways?
Now add, What are the odds that Israel as a nation and HaShem's people individually would also fulfill the "type" by their actions from day to day? Astronomical wouldn't you say?
I finally ask you, who is capable of this?
There is only ONE.
Matthew 4:11-17 Then HaSatan left Him; and look, angels came and began to minister to Him. Now when He heard that John had been taken into custody, He withdrew into Galilee; and leaving Nazareth, He came and settled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, "The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles-- "The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great light, And to those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death, Upon them a light dawned." From that time Yeshua began to preach and say, "Teshuvah (Repent), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand."
He leads us from the shadow of death to eternal Salvation through repentance and trust.
Sh'mot 20:22-26 Then the L-RD said to Moshe, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'You yourselves have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven. 'You shall not make other gods besides Me; gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves. 'You shall make an altar of earth for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I cause My NAME TO BE REMEMBERED, I will come to you and bless you. 'And if you make an altar of stone for Me, you shall not build it of cut stones, for if you wield your tool on it, you will profane it. 'And you shall not go up by steps to My altar, that your nakedness may not be exposed on it.'
That your nakedness may not be exposed on it - The priests from many pagan religions performed at the altars of false gods while they were naked. The priests of the true and living G-d were to be modest in their attire.
The name of YHWH is to be remembered. We also see for ourselves that the Father spoke to us from heaven about His son. He said, if you see the Father, you see the son. They are One. The L-rd G-d is and always will still be ONE. We should also remember His name Yeshua means, "Salvation." YHWH is Salvation.
At the end of this life we do not want to come into His presence naked nor with only filthy rags,
All our righteous deeds are like filthy rags when it comes to eternal life.
Isaiah 64:5-7 And shall we be saved? For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment; And all of us wither like a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. And there is no one who calls on your name, NAS
2 Corinthians 5:1-4 For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from G-d, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven; inasmuch as we, having put it on, shall not be found naked. For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed, but to be clothed, in order that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. NAS
Again, we have to be clothed with His righteousness. We are given a robe of righteousness and a garment of salvation. This is also a promise.
Galatians 3:23-29 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Messiah, that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of G-d through faith in Yeshua HaMashiach. For all of you who were immersed into Messiah have clothed yourselves with Messiah. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Yeshua HaMashiach. And if you belong to Messiah, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to PROMISE. NAS
Luke 5:36-39 And He was also telling them a parable: "No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. "And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins, and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined. "But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. "And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, 'The old is good enough.'" NAS
We will receive awards according to what we have done and not done in this life and the other. This does not have anything to do with eternal salvation.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Messiah, that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. NAS
