Sakura lost her mother when she was only 3 years old. Even though she had loving father and a brother who cared about her very much, it just wasn't enough for a young girl. At the age of 10, she was forced to be mature as a teenager. Not only did she have to take care of herself, she had to perform her role as member of her family by doing chores as well. Something about Shaoran reminded her of herself. Reflected in his lonely eyes, she saw her own lonely eyes. Once she asked Shaoran, "...But aren't you lonely?" She realized that she wasn't truly lonely when she compared herself to Shaoran, who was all alone from Hong Kong. She had Kero-chan, and Oniichan, and her father, and all of her friends... and Shaoran. Now she can be a strength to Shaoran, who was all alone like how she used to be...
Shaoran lost his father when he was still a child. Nothing is known about him(either that, or CLAMP were too lazy to care about his father.). Being left in the position of being the head of Li Clan as well as "Man of the Family", Shaoran had no choice but to be strong. His mother gave him no affection. In order to prove himself... in order to get himself acknowledged by his indifferent mother... he swallowed all desires to be a care-free young boy. When he first came to Japan, he was serious and indifferent to everything. Sakura opened up his heart, and helped him face the true lonely self inside himself.
Shaoran falls in love with Sakura. Sakura is still in love with Yukito. This situation dearly hurts Shaoran. Even though he knows he isn't his beloved's most precious one, he quietly waits for her. And when she runs to his arms after being crushed emotionally, Shaoran embraces her warmly. Finally they realize their true feelings and confess each other of their feelings.
And Sakura and Shaoran's love for each other will last forever....
