This was the day that Linda, Simon, Pete, and I went to Paris. What a kick! This was taken at the chunnel train station around 5am. | ![]() |
![]() | This is the Seine. We followed for most of the day, it lead us to Notre Dame, the Louvre, the Musee D'Orsee, and the Eiffel Tower. It was a long walk... but then we are all fellwanderer's so it wasn't a big deal. |
Notre Dame was wonderful. The windows inside were lovely and the gargoyles magnificent. I really wanted to take a tour of the bell tower and the spires, but the line was long and our time too limited. I suppose I now have good reason to go back! | ![]() |
![]() | This is the Chapel of St. Denis. The stained glass is twice as lovely as anything in Notre Dame and the place is much less crowded since it is off the beaten track. |
Simon and I are in front of a really neat arch next to the Louvre. It is not the Arc de triumph though, we got there in the evening and my photo of it did not come out very well. | ![]() |
![]() | The eiffel tower was great fun to climb. We went as high as possible without the use of the elevators, however the top half could only be traveled by elevator. I would have shots from the top, but the weather turned sour and everything went grey - not good for photos. |
We went to dinner at a nice little brasserie near the Gar du Norde. The food was outstanding and the prices very reasonable. Do not ever go to Paris without experiencing a meal of steak and wine at one of these little places... you will never forget it. | ![]() |
