| Thinking about learning how to play the pipes? Do you need help with your playing? Would you like to improve your performance skills? No problem, I can help out! I have been teaching pipers on all playing levels, of all age groups, as individuals and groups since 1992. My instruction focus lies mainly on accurate playing, clean fingering, sight-reading, ear training, basic music theory and rhthym training, steady blowing, bagpipe maintenance, bagpipe music history, marching and discipline, and performing. The Great Highland Bagpipes is regarded as one of the most complex woodwind instruments to master. A special finger and playing technique demand a highly motivated and devoted student. Even though previous musical knowledge or experience are not required to learn to play the pipes, a reasonable amount of talent are important in order to achieve good results on the instrument. All students are expected to purchase their own practice chanter, music books and later a set of bagpipes. Please consult with me if you would like to have recommendations for online stores and bagpipe brands. |

| I am using the College of Piping books, the Piping Centre Tutor and some materials from the Canadian Armed Forces and the Army School of Bagpipe Music to train my students. I am currently in the process of developing my own instruction book and method, "The Kresse Method of Piping" which I hopefully will introduce to my students in 2007/2008. In the past I have been teaching piping students in all kinds of different settings and institutions incl: - High School bagpipe band (as head instructor for 2 years) - College Pipe Band (as assistant to the director of bagpipe music 2 years) - Grade 4 and Grade 5 pipe bands (as guest instructor for intermediate and advanced classes) - Queen's Royal Hussars Pipes and Drums ( guest instructor for the beginner group) - Southern Workshop EUSPBA (guest instructor for maintenance and band drill classes) -Private students (group and individual lessons) |
