R. Kelly grew up in a housing project where he got his first shot at stardom by winning a nation talent contest on the Big Break television show. Kelly released his first album, Born Into The 90's in 1992. His most successful singles on that album include, "Honey Love," and "Slow Dance." In 1993 he released his second album, 12 Play. "Bump N' Grind" topped the charts on both the R&B and Pop singles charts. "She's Got That Vibe," "Your Body's Callin," and "Sex Me," were also big hits with his listeners. In 1995 he released his third album, R. Kelly, which reached platinum status 4x. In 1996 he continued to shine with his inspirational single, "I Believe I Can Fly" which appeared on the Space Jam soundtrack. He won three Grammy Awards for that single. In 1998 he released yet another album (a double) titled R. When the ballad "If I Could Turn Back The Hands of Time" was released in 1999, it became a smash hit in many countries, including Holland, Sweden and the UK. "R." is currently certified 6x Platinum in the United States and has sold over one million copies across the UK and Europe. Kelly's latest release of TP-2.com has gotten rave reviews with his first hit single "I Wish," a tribute to his roots and his mother. The lyrics on TP-2.com reflect stories that happen to everyone. The first single is an emotional tribute to the loved ones he ha lost in his life. "A Woman's Threat" is a statement of remorse for all of the men that have done their women wrong and "I Decided" is a testament to a man's commitment to his family.

During his career he has written and produced for Michael Jackson (You Are Not Alone), Celine Dion, Janet Jackson, Kelly Price, Toni Braxton, Mary J. Blige, and Luther Vandross. Throughout his career he has won numerous Grammy Awards, sold multi-platinum albums across the world, and achieved No. 1 singles. R. Kelly has established himself as an artist, writer, producer and mixer. He is an urban R&B singer-songwriter and producer that has truly crossed boundaries.
