For four years Mark Kimberley has locked himself away from the world. I feel like Im going to be sick. My hearts racing. Its like somebody is standing behind you with red hot gloves on, pulling your skin back.

Marks story is touching. He is 23, and hasnt left his house to go out in months.

He is suffering with a severe case of blushing. His face turns red, he rapidly perspires and he feels self-conscious.

Mark has felt this way for as long as he can remember. It strips you of the ability to interact all because the redness is so apparent.

Its destroyed everything. I wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy. Marks blushing also affects his family life.

His daughter Olivia, was born two years ago, and he has missed out on key moments in those special first years.

He doesnt go out socially with his girlfriend and he cant work. Mark is confined to his home.

His girlfriend, Angie said: A lot of people dont think Ive got a boyfriend, because hes never with me.

After years of social isolation, Mark has taken the first brave steps to confront his condition.

He consults a Harley Street practitioner, Dr Drott, who tells Mark he can cure his blushing through surgery - at a cost of 4,000!

Itll give me back everything that Ive lost

The operation includes work on Marks lungs and nerve endings - and this is the good news. The bad news is that there are risks of side effects.

Some patients go on to regret having surgery.

Dr Drott: You will sweat more on the trunk of your body and the legs. It may even soak through your clothes.

This is one mans intimate story about an extreme condition that has halted his life for the past four years. I tried to commit suicide. I cant live with it.

Join Mark as he emerges from the operating theatre and embarks on his new life.

Mark was treated through the Scandinavian Medical Centre located at 15 Harley Street.
