After the rain we smelled our love the
trickled scent the feathered dove
Above our captured souls spoke tongues
of innocence again
Beneath the springs we combed our hair
we brushed away the days despair
And dressed ourselves for pleasure, discarding
all our pain
Beneath the stars our bonded dreams our
breathless love the torchlight beams
Of childish joy and hope of youth at play
Before the sleep we taught ourselves new
chapters more evolving reams
Of wisdom learnt from nights we kept at
bay
The prowling of offence the stalking fear
the looming sense
That hopes to steal the safety we had
found
And turn against us savagery, a slavery
in present tense
Where no more childish frolick can abound
So with the rain we washed our minds we
trickled joy we went to find
new pastures greener newer fruit to bear
We cast aside the looming doubt we left
it out it did not bind
And childhood love forever we found there
