Ganesha.
Who is Ganesha?
Ganesha is most commonly known as the God with an elephants head. The head of an elephant was given when the Lord Shiva not knowin Ganesha was his son Sliced his head off, he was then ordered by his wife to kill the first thing he nad his army came across and to place that head on their son!


Ganesha is the God of all things successful and auspicious therefore he is always worshipped first at festivals and in rituals especially at house warmings, weddings and at  the beginning of a child's education.
He is also the remover of obstacles, he represents goodwill and the art of living a balanced life.
Ganesha's Depiction.
Ganesha is usually depicted with a pot belly, short, with one leg folded and the other touching the ground and with a hooded snake wrapped around his waist.  In his hands he holds a noose which represents the human bondage to desires, a lotus flower which represents human evolution, an axe hwich represents the destruction of all evil and a modak or a sweet which represents joy.  His trunk which is usually pointed to the left represents the OM, the origin of the cosmic universe.
