Things I got elsewhere...

THINGS I GOT ELSEWHERE...
This is where I list many of the things in "Jigsaw" that I got from somewhere else. I dunno. It might be interesting. I'll have just a few up at first, but more will follow!

THE QUOTES AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH CHAPTER- I was looking at some books by an author named Robert Asprin... each chapter in the books in one of his series began with a humorous quote. I thought maybe Jigsaw could use something like that.

"GET DOWN HERE NOW OR I'LL TURN YOU INTO A TURTLE AND EAT YOU FOR LUNCH!" - This line by Jirae has survived, albeit changed, since the first draft. I think I did this thinking of a scene from Patricia Wredes's "Enchanted Forest Chronicles" where a character threatens to turn another character into a hedgehog or something.

THE GRULI- The name of the fruit Aleric is eating in chapter one was stolen from Slayers TRY.

SELA- was inspired by the floating city from Lunar: The Silver Star.

ZENOS- The name of Jigsaw's king was inspired by the name of my high school health teacher's... was it father or grandfather? I can't remember. Yeah, his name really is Zenos, I guess.

RAGUD- The name of Warel's son was borrowed from Slayers TRY. One of the five weapons was named Ragud Mazegis.

TIXE'S PLOT- to incapacitate the king by causing to fall ill and taking over in his absence was inspired by Super Mario RPG.

ALERIC- As it says on his profile, Aleric's name, while it is a real name, came from reading some original production notes from Douglas Adams' "The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Arthur Dent's name was originally going to be Aleric B.

THE LOST GARDENS- A while ago I visited a cave in Iowa. Many of its formations had names, and the name of one of them was "Lost Gardens."

"DO YOU THINK MAYBE YOU COULD STOP TALKING IN UPPERCASE LETTERS?"- I borrowed this line from some book, but I can't remember which...

CALI THE DRAGON- was actually inspired by one of my earlier works, a short story called "The Cowardly Dragon."

THE RED ROCKS- I stole that from a Rick Moranis movie called "Big Bully." In Rick's character's flashbacks to when he was a kid there was a cave... there was a rock painted red in there that you were never supposed to go past.

THE 77 DWARVES- was inspired by something I saw on a cartoon once a long time ago.

"I FEEL SO INADEQUATE AS A MALE RIGHT NOW." - was inspired by a line Mikky-chan used in my online RPG, Ohtori no Gekijou. I think the line may have been inspired by the line, "She sure has a way of making a guy feel inadequate," stated by Prince Phil in The Slayers.

KATRINA - In any version of Jigsaw where she has appeared, she meets up with the other characters at a river. Katrina's character was inspired by a girl in a dream I had once. I was floating down a river when I got caught in a big net... the girl in the dream helped me out.
