Quarrying is an environmental problem that exist
in some barangays in Hilongos. Although this has not shown adverse effect right away or instantly to the place, but observers have foreseen it's terrible damage especially to the nearby farms and the houses near the quarrying site because of the excavations made which will cause erosion and damage of crops and lives. Several sectors of the society have given their viewpoints regarding the situation. According to the environmentalists, there are other programs of the environment they are facing today like illegal logging, kaingin system and many more, and quarrying is also one of them as they considered a problem in the environment.

Since the industry has posed a great problem to the environment especifically quarrying, the following solutions ang recommendations are presented:
1. Local officials of Hilongos down to the barangay should have a contract and issue protective measures to minimize or control the industry.
2. Concerned people especially coming from farmer sectors, youth sectors and environmentalists should join hands to have petitions to stop quarrying

Question: What is your comment or opinion regarding quarrying in your barangay?
Answer: My comment regarding the quarrying in our barangay is that, this case would cause the loss of livelihood for us especially that we're near the quarry site. We're afraid if our houses will be carried away during heavy floods.
